An all too-familiar story. There's nothing quite like being a manager in a failing organisation to guarantee a bonus.

‘We completed well over 300 delivery modernisation revisions in 2012, so again, that programme is progressing.’
Progressing putting implace more rediclously planned, cost cutting tripe of revisions backed up by the worse bullying campain in british industry at present!

This loathsome creature did quite well http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... gimes.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;DirtyHarry wrote:The government doesn't have the cash to spend on us????
Those thieving gits in Westminster must be pocketing our taxes like there's no tomorrow.
The British government spends less on the police, than it ever did before.
The British government spends less on defence, than it ever did before.
The British government is starving the NHS of funds, more than it ever did before.
The British government has cut the welfare state to such an extent, the safety net has almost completely disappeared.
Where then, is our taxes being spent?
For we were soldiers once, and young

As do all the wealthy, whatever they claim to be.
I laugh so much, I nearly pish myself, everytime a berk calls Bliar a Socialist. That 'loathsome creature', as you quite rightly call him, is as much a Socialist as that other loathsome creature, Thatcher, was.

And without Blair there would have been no Labour government and the alternative would have been what? Anyone who believes that "socialism" with the leftist bent is ever going to win an election in this day and age must also believe that unions are the powerful organisations they once were - Brendan Barber points the way for the modern trade unionist in the new years honours list - you remember the guy - the one who brokered the 2010 Agreement

I believe that John Smith had he lived could have delivered a Labour government without quite as much selling out of principles as Blair did but you're right, without the fundamental changes in party policy in the early to mid 90's started by Smith and continued by Blair Labour would have remained unelectable for decades to come.dvbuk55 wrote:And without Blair there would have been no Labour government
There will be no leftist shift in the Labour party because this is a country of centre-right politics and a move to the left would mean years in the wilderness and more years of Tory government..
Anyway after Independence that will be England,Wales and NI's problem.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

After (possible) independence (and who believes that scenario will ever really happen? The Scots have always moaned and groaned but never really did anything to help or change the situation knowing full well which side their bread was buttered) the Sweaties will have a far worse one party government situation and, even worse, led by that vile smarmy dissembler Salmond, than anything the remainder of the UK will have to suffer.fishtank wrote:dvbuk55 wrote: Anyway after Independence that will be England,Wales and NI's problem.
Still, you can fool some of the people...etc etc

Not sure if this is a truism that will last forever, the idea that no matter how far right we move and how much they keep turning the screw there will never be a chance to win support for an alternative is a future without hope.fishtank wrote:

If as you say that Labour had not been elected and refused to adopt policies like the private finance initiative and aggressive foreign policy and deregulating the markets and all the rest then when the financial meltdown of 2008 happened (as it would have done under a Conservative government) then thats when you gain support. What we have instead is a political party funded by the trade unions trying to stick a smiley face on declining living standards as an inevitable reality and dressing it up as sensible politics.Since 2001 nearly 40% in every general election havent even bothered voting.
In terms of employment and local economy I live in one of the better cities in the UK but in some of the areas I deliver to there is 35% relative child poverty. This is what so called sensible prudent government has created.

I'd be interested to hear what the relative child poverty is relative to and to what issues child poverty are used as a reference Dan. I have to say that I belong to what is known as the baby boomer era and I can assure you that there was indeed real poverty when I was a youngster.Danelectro wrote:In terms of employment and local economy I live in one of the better cities in the UK but in some of the areas I deliver to there is 35% relative child poverty. This is what so called sensible prudent government has created.

Re: Mark Higson update on modernisation
Dv im sure you know that relative poverty is set using a monetary threshold and im not using absolute poverty. The point im trying to make is that new labour adopted neo liberal policies and abandoned intervening to redistribute wealth. My parents had to endure even tougher times than yourself and even I was born in a house that had an outside toilet and no bath and that was the late 60's.dvbuk55 wrote:I'd be interested to hear what the relative child poverty is relative to and to what issues child poverty are used as a reference Dan. What my parents have now is a comfortable retirement with a decent pension after working hard all their lives, something that we are told is no longer possible. Also the baby boomers are now being blamed for dumping their pensions on the younger generations so your not out of the trees yet.
The whole thing dont add up and the only solutions being offered are giving more for less or the other sensible policy of increasing the population by immigration to increase tax revenues to pay for the pensions we cant afford at the moment which means permanent huge increases in population to solve the pension crisis-sensible?...I guess thats the way things are and there is nothing that can be done now or in the future?
