Rota'd days off
Wondering if anyone can give me some advice. The manager at my centre has recently told me I'm on a 4 week rota with alternating Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday as my day off. The deputy manager told me today that my day off next week has been changed to Thursday and I explained that may cause me problems with childcare as my son currently attends a private nursery. I was told by him that I had no right to make any plans and if he wished he could tell me the day before that I was needed to work and I'd have no choice to attend. I thought Royal Mail were supposed to be sympathetic towards employees family needs and this seems to go against the ethic they portray. Alongside this we are constantly told that overtime is compulsory even if that means being late to collect children. Can anyone please advise how I'd be able to contact HR to verify if these practises are normal!

Lies, lies and more lies. See your rep ASAP! Oh and ask the manager to kindly put all that in writing.jon72 wrote: I was told by him that I had no right to make any plans and if he wished he could tell me the day before that I was needed to work and I'd have no choice to attend.

Load of rubbish.
You are beyond entitled to arrange to do whatever you want, on your SCHEDULED days off.
If they want you to change that, then they can ask you, however you cannot be forced to.
Get the Rep in, and Area Rep if necessary.
Ask for all these claims in writing, and to see the relevant agreements.

Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

If you've been with Royal Mail for more than 26 weeks then ask your union rep about making a flexible working request
