Re: Sacked cos van door unlocked... How did RM find out?
We should play RM at its own game. Work from the back of the van, no mail in the front. Seat belt on every time before we start off, visual check doors have locked. MAKE sure we do our van checks, daily and weekly and then watch the duties that don't complete soar. The time has gone when RM will back you if anything goes wrong, after turning a blind eye to it. They want our jobs, don't hand it to them on a plate......

It's in the newspaper article in the first post, so it's already in the public domain.osgoody1970 wrote:why are you mentioning names on here, some people might share the same surname and get wrongfully accused!!!!

I already do. But it is good advice, as many don't...even though they know how bad the managers culture and attitude towards us is.ganda wrote:We should play RM at its own game. It takes time, but as I am being paid, what does that matter. When the boss asks why it takes so long, I always say because I'm doing my job properly.
I always pull the door handle to make sure the door is locked. As you know, if it fails, ignorance will be no defence.
The security rules can be interpreted in such a way that you are allowed to carry mail/keys/PDA in the front, but only when you are in the vehicle. When away from the van, everything should be out of sight, and locked in the load space/back.
My manager has told us that you can leave collection keys/PDA's in the front, as long as they're not visible. But if they get stolen, even when they are not in view to passers by, will my manager state that he told me that? Hell no. It will be a case of covering themselves and the doors over there......
Protect yourselves, no one else will. Jobs are hard enough to come by now.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

best advice ive heard for a while. do the job as it says, all mail in the back and seatbelts on. no u wont complete your delivery but you still got your job. plenty on here got sacked for doing what we been doing for god knows when and being a damn good postie. r.m want your job, u want your job, dont give them a reason to take your jobganda wrote:We should play RM at its own game. Re: SACKED CUMBRIAN POSTMAN FAILS TO GET HIS JOB BACK
Its a case of double standards, in an office not a million miles from us the procedure of unsafe pouch drops is still rife (pre revision) and management are aware of it.
In royal mails eyes if this person was marked down as a troublemaker the ranks would close in on him, and a situation would either be manufactured or would emerge to remove him from the business.

Gutted for the above postie.
He was sacked cos he left the van door unlocked. Anyone know how RM found out? Was anything stolen/reported by public/manager spying?
