Why do Royal Mail even bother doing these surveys? Do senior management really look at the stats they released today and all slap each other on the back and congratulate themselves on how people are so happy to work for their company?

My office only functions because of daily B & H, condoned and even encouraged by managers at all levels. Everyone knows this. Why go through the annual charade of asking our opinion and then totally ignoring it?

the employee survey is another total waist of money and we all know it. but, in comparison to most employers out there doing similar things, royal mail is a good employer. the terms and conditions are good in todays economic climate. I don't believe this is down to any benevolent management team but a because of a mainly unionised workforce who will fight for what they believe is right.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Just goes to show how desperate they are when they are trying to big up a 1% rise in being proud to work for RM.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Surveys are exactly like full-year reports, they try and hid the bad parts by masking with 2/3 figures that make us goo.......wooooooo, fanstastico. But really you know they are really guff. In RM we do still employ gullible people. Or is it desperate.

Anyone who fills these in shouldn't hand them to a manager, but put them in a postbox. I say this from experience, as a former manager of mine used to fill them in themselves and return them, when they were off on AL we got the results, only to point out we hadn't received the forms.
You should also remember that the questions are asked in a way that rarely allows our actual opinion to be put forward, and that the only way we can get our views over is in the comment box, but they are only highlighted when 10 or more people write the same thing, in large offices maybe, small offices no chance.
Doesn't really matter, they don't take any action in relation to the results anyway. Never do.

This is the same as the union ballot as they are not being sent out but handed to us and then watching you fill them in..

Nice one. Be interesting to see the actual results, rather than how RM have spun them.

fishtank wrote:They've only released 3 stats.

62% of you feel proud to work for Royal Mail Group. This is 1% higher than 2012.
And about 30% lower than when I started.

67% of you would recommend Royal Mail Group’s services to a friend or family member.
Yes that's a real endorsement of the company, that 1/3rd of us would tell our family not to use Royal Mail even though it keeps us in a job.

And 58% of you – a 2% increase – say you work together to get the job done well.
What does that even mean?
Do the rest work alone to get the job done well or work together to get the job done badly?

Where's the rest.
They did this last year, released 2 or 3 "good" stats and then promised the rest later...then nothing.
They are so full of s**t. :cuppa
THESE are the stats they released ?!
this is laughable, go look at any decent company and find only 62% of the workforce is proud to work for it and heads would roll ! This is a terrible number, RM attempted spin of 1% is pathetic ! they should be embarrassed this number is so low, not shouting about a tiny improvement.
67% would recommend the service ? again PATHETIC ! this number should be over 90% maybe more !
58% work together to get job done - this number should be over 95% . 58% again is laughable, a business where only just over half its staff work as a team shows terrible management and extremely low morale amongst workers. - but well done on the 2% increase !!!!

The fact that RM are proudly talking about "improvements" show just how clueless this current management is. BIG changes are needed, to be happy with these minor improvements on pathetically low figures is embarrassing !
