Anyone get a letter over weekend regarding their pension AVC with the Equitable Life, now defunct.
Apparently if you did you will be due a government backed compensation payout!
anyone more clued up than I am as to how much this may be?

Policyholders who believe themselves to be eligible and have not heard from the Scheme by April 2013 should first confirm that their policy is eligible for the Scheme by telephoning the “Policychecker” service.
After this, they should write to the Scheme to state their eligibility for the Scheme, quoting their full name, address and their Equitable Life policy number.

I recieved my letter the other day aswell, and it clearly states that we'll get another letter in a few weeks telling us how much compo we'll get. Obviously it'll depend on how much you paid in and the value of your pot, but personally I withdrew my money when the Equitable went belly up and I didn't have a huge amount in at the time anyway, so I don't expect very much.

The letter I got on Monday says I will not get any compensation as the Equitable Life Payment Scheme has calculated that I have not received a 'Relative Loss'. That means apparently the difference I would have received if I had invested in a similar arrangement with another company.
I lost £4k when the money I had paid in was reduced, before I transferred it into the RM pension scheme.
But I won't get any compensation. What a load of b*ll*cks.
