I very much doubt it mate ... I must point out Tnt have only delivered recruitment leaflets in 1 area of Prestwick so far that I know of ... their delivery model is 3 deliveries per week ... they drop the mail off to the postman's house pre-packed (if they follow their own Dutch model) as the sorting process is fully automated .... they have had this technology for just over a decade whereas our walk sequencing machines have been virtually obsolete for a decade as royal mail rarely buys up to date technologyDarren Bent wrote:It would be interesting to see if they will go for Royal Mail employees for postal work ie pay more money than Royal Mail for the know how and experience.

Re: Tnt Recruitment
Seems to go against the theory that TNT only want to cherry pick large inner city locations?

Re: Tnt Recruitment
I recently witnessed a TNT postman delivering in E14 (Isle of Dogs/Canary Wharf area in East London). It was surprising as I thought they were only doing this in parts of West London. But what surprised me most, was that it was on a Sunday morning! Very strange.

I very much doubt it. They prob hope that there will be a surplus of ex RM Posties who will be scratching around for work and they can hoover up for £6.50 an hour.
Lets home thats not the case.

I've had a few snide remarks in recent weeks from members of the public along the lines of 'hah, you'll be privatised soon enough'. They don't seem to understand for what they are wishing.
I am not so sure.
Most people i have spoken to know only to well what has happened to their gas, water and electricity bills after privatisation. Once they realise the service provided will be reduced and most likley more expensive i wonder how many will really want it.
Daily Mail readers excluded of course

The Postal Privatisation would be a big boost for the SNP Independence campaign, if the people of Scotland want to keep Post Office public and if you vote "YES" to independence they probably will rescind the Postal Bill as it would no longer apply to an Independent Scotland, an own goal by the British Government if you ask me.

that was the test phase to see if it was feasible .... several incidents have happened since it started ie Royal Mail setting the price it charges for handling competitors DSA (thus makit it affordable/worthwhile for Tnt to deliver DSA ... they have no interest in collecting and deliverying joe public's letters) , the upcoming privatisation of Royal mail that could either strengthen or weaken Royal Mail and finally the real threat to boycott our competitors DSA by the union .... the last two have probably accelerated TNT's plans to roll out deliveries around the country in a attempt to pre-empt the threat to their business .... TNT have mail centres around the country and because they can walk sequence both letters and flats into order and pack them into plastic wrap (the whole process is automated) their is no need for local delivery offices thus reducing their network costs .... small isolated towns and villages and generally rural areas will have no interest for them and the fact that they only do 3 deliveries per week will reduce greatly their human resource overheads ..... and we would also lose the majority of the D2D's as well .... this was always going to happen but privatisation and the threat of a boycott of their mail looks to have accelerated the whole process

They can only accelerate the process so far, as they don't have the resources to go very far, the sale of their express business to ups falling through has damaged their finances even further.

Re: Tnt Recruitment
Must say, with Privatisation (possibly) Imminent & a huge percentage of our colleagues doing everything in their power to f*** up the job this news is hardly welcome.
The decent workers seem to be getting attacked from all angles.
I mean,it's not as if you can trust the RM hierarchy to make the correct decisions & do the right thing by the business + ward off the opposition.
If/when the ship goes down, that lot will be off & quids in whilst we will be marooned at the bottom of the sea without a bloody boat or paddle.
Still,at least we'll have our pension.

Re: Tnt Recruitment
to make a long story short .....
1 of the boys that lives in the Marchburn area of Prestwick area was that they were recruiting postmen (this was on Saturday after delivery when I got back to office) I queried him and he was adamant it was for postmen .... another of the boy's that lives in the marchburn area came into the office this morning with the leaflet and it clearly states its for leaflet delivery
.... if the clown wasn't on holiday I would have killed him this morning

Re: Tnt Recruitment
Pretty sure we're not allowed to work for a competitor, so if they are trying to recruit posties who still work for RM, then the company should do something about it.
Even if they only make us aware that it is a no no.
