We have recently had 'new rules' introduced ...
1. No trumping at the IPS frames.
2. No swearing in the office.
3. Must have a 20 minute meal break prior to leaving for delivery.
4. Must get permission to leave office on completion of duty.
5. Smoke breaks will be taken in 20 minute meal break, not in addition too. Personally I wholeheartedly agree with this.
If you do a job too well, you’ll get stuck with it.

If you are serious about the non waste product comment then report it immediately, it's no good complaining about the seemingly ridiculous H&S stuff and ignoring that which is meant only for your benefit.

All 'complaining' might do is close it, with us all then moving into the big Delivery Office ten miles away and we wouldn't want that.
Have you not got an IR or H&S Rep', you ideally need to present a plan to them which works and keeps your office open. I take it that there is only one office for the Managers, if not there's your new facility, if so try proposing they amalgamate with the locker, and use their existing office for your meal relief.

Not selfish, that's the attitude of ALL that work there.
Yes, we have "got an IR or H&S Rep'" but there's more important issues for him to address.
"A plan to them which works and keeps your office open" is not a realistic option.
Not sure what you mean by "I take it that there is only one office for the Managers" as we only get a visit from a manager about once a year and we don't have anything resembling a "locker".
We've three alternatives for our "meal relief" (a) sat on a stool at the fitting (b) sat on the 'outside' toilet or (c) stood outside - and that's worked well enough here since the penny post.

Holy s**t, Our office must be really laidback in comparison to most as we can do what we like, When we like more or less - So long as the job gets done.
Office with over 130 postman.
We are the same, but we always tell the line manager where we are going - for one its a H&S issue. If there is a fire, and you've popped out to do something, the lineo has to account for you and can't. That could put a Fireman in danger over a sandwich.
so do you tell him/her you are nipping downstairs for a shyte or do you put it more politely,,,,i.e away to build a log cabin, drop the kids of at the pool, going to crimp one off, away to do some pebbledashing, fartexing, etc etc.
Yes, I always tell someone where I am going - to be honest its 2nd nature from the forces when the reasons for doing so were perhaps more important.

i knew a guy that was having a sh!t when the fire alarm went off, took 5 mins for him to evacuate the building, he could of put a firemans life in danger. But going back to OP you should tell the gaffa where your going, thats just common sense mate

Fireman have such regard to their own Health and Safety that they're not going to put their own "life in danger" entering a building to see if a guy has finished his sh!t.
Just like Croydon two summers ago, they didn't go and put the fires out because they thought they needed better protection from the police.
All this dragging people out of burning buildings every day is a myth. Fishing and construction work are far more dangerous.

Good question. I suggest the OP asks that of their manager, especially if they smoke.
My own manager goes for a fag break 2 or 3 times an hour, then moans at me if I'm so much as 1 minute late for anything.
our gaffers are even worse....they all have more breaks than Jimmy White.
