SORRY ROBERTT BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE THE GRASP ON REALITY - ALL THE LARGE COMPANIES, CORPORATIONS, FINANCE HOUSES ETC IN BRITAIN HAVE A PENSIONABLE AGE OF 60. AND THESE COMPANIES VALUE THE STAFF ENOUGH TO PROUDLY PAY THIS MONEY TO THERE VALUABLE ASSET -THERE STAFF.
IF YOU WOULD TAKE A MINUTE AND POKE YOUR HEAD FROM OUT OF LEIGHTONS BOTTOM AND THEN CHECK THE FACTS. THE PROBLEM IS THE 17 YEAR PENSION HOLIDAY THE GOVERNMENT GAVE ROYAL MAIL. IF THIS HAD NOT HAPPENED WE WOULD NOT BE IN THIS MESS.
ROBERT T - STAND WITH US, SUPPORT US. WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY. I'M SO PROUD TO STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH MY COLLEAGUES, NO INDEED THEY ARE TRULY MY FRIENDS.

As I understand it the pension holiday was 13 years and it was allowed because in the past pension schemes weren't allowed to have a surplus, although obviously that hasn't helped us.
Now they have to have a surplus, hence the 2 figures quoted - £3.6million and £6.6million (I think). The £3million difference being the surplus that has to exist due to current accounting laws.I asume it's a certain percentage.
Many pension schemes have already gone the same way, with reduced benefits, etc. Which is why I have being paying extra into mine for years - a little extra can go a long way!
I am not an arse licker, just a realist
