Jo Swinson comments on Royal Mail and Post Office 'Click and Collect' launch announcement

Responding to the announcement that Royal Mail and Post Office are launching the UK’s largest ‘Click and Collect’ network, Postal Affairs Minister Jo Swinson said:

More and more people are choosing to shop online. I’m delighted that through this important new Click and Collect service the Post Office and Royal Mail are making the most of this growing market and responding to what customers want - convenience and accessibility.

The parcels market is growing rapidly as Royal Mail’s encouraging results last week showed. Click and Collect is a great example of how the expanding digital market is creating commercial opportunities to build a sustainable future for the Post Office and Royal Mail. Since 2012, post offices are now open for an additional 17,000 hours a week which will provide online shoppers much greater convenience over where and when they collect their parcels.

Notes for editors
1.The government’s economic policy objective is to achieve ‘strong, sustainable and balanced growth that is more evenly shared across the country and between industries’. It set four ambitions in the ‘Plan for Growth’ (PDF 1.7MB), published at Budget 2011:

to create the most competitive tax system in the G20
to make the UK the best place in Europe to start, finance and grow a business
to encourage investment and exports as a route to a more balanced economy
to create a more educated workforce that is the most flexible in Europe.
Work is under way across government to achieve these ambitions, including progress on more than 250 measures as part of the Growth Review. Developing an Industrial Strategy gives new impetus to this work by providing businesses, investors and the public with more clarity about the long-term direction in which the government wants the economy to travel.

I see Mike Hancock (Lib dem) is up before his party disciplinary committee for inappropriate conduct, with statements like this
"Since 2012, post offices are now open for an additional 17,000 hours a week which will provide online shoppers much greater convenience over where and when they collect their parcels." from Jo Swinson (Lib Dem) she will be next, what utter tosh.

The Network offers 9.00 to 5.30 Mon -Fri 9.00 12.30 on Sat, and that applies to 98% of the Network.

Has the world gone mad

Come now Subbie the poor MPs will only be passing on the info provided by the Blessed Paula as the network stumbles along to the promised land. The poor dears are incapable of independent thought.
