Pension Consultation set to be announced
The CWU at National Level have been informed that Royal Mail will announce within the next few days a consultation on changing the pension scheme benefits .

Take a look through the pensions pages 32-35 in the preliminary results which can be found at :-

These pages provide all the financial information that is available at the present time. The 5 risk factors listed on page 33 make interesting reading and also the comment on page 35 which states :-
'The surplus in RMPP is assumed to be available as a reduction to contributions and this future benefit is recognised within the deferred taxation asset.'
So Royal Mail can take a pension holiday for say 2 years and at the same time try to secure a reduction in member's benefits via the consultation!
