Afraid for future of postal workers

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

THE Royal Mail is being sold down the river, washed away on the ego of its chairman, Allan Leighton.

I have been a postal worker for in excess of 20 years.

I know something about postal workers.

I know postal workers are not greedy mercenaries, holding their business to ransom for unreasonable wage demands.

Postmen are generally hard-working individuals, who work unsociable hours in extremes of weather for relatively low wages.

We live in a benefit claiming society.

Is it not reasonable for postal workers who put their time in to have accrued a reasonable pension and thus afford themselves a reasonable standard of living in their hard-earned retirement?

Not if you’re to believe the the chairman of Royal Mail.

Leighton’s soulless modernisation plans will result in mass redundancies, slashed pensions and draconian flexible working attendances, which will make our union impotent and leave our workforce at the mercy of management discretion.

Leighton’s so-called vision of the future will result in a shabby second class postal service, where once we had the finest in Europe.

Leighton will prevent a compromise with the CWU, so they have no alternative but to announce further strike action.

Postal workers deserve to be treated better, so they in turn can provide the service that the public deserves.

Leighton’s modernisation plans are a joke but, for some reason, none of us are laughing.

no one seems prepared to dip into their pocket and pay for..

I know first-hand the jobs you lot do, and it is tough at times. Unfortunately everyone wants a gold-plated service but are not prepared to pay for it.

We could tax the country 0.1p in the pound which would then retain a fixed service.

Good luck with the strike

Good chance your right, but I wanna be able to look myself in the mirror with some sort of pride knowing at least I did my best to stop it,instead of bending over and parting my cheeks a bit further to make it easier for them to b***er me!
