Excess D2D
Whats the beef with the excess D2D. Do we have to deliver the excess? Will I get reprimanded if I refuse to? Are discussions still ongoing?

Re: Excess D2D
As long as you have delivered the correct daily amount you should not have to do this . It is a sign that your Dom is trying to cover up non delivery of D2D's to his boss as all surplus items in our office have now to be counted and a reason given to why there is a surplus. It is now not good enough to say that 'we just got too many'. The non delivery of D2D's has become so widespread that customers have threatend to withdraw. At the end of the day they still are a significant revenue stream for the company and have needed to be taken more seriously.monkeymutha wrote:Whats the beef with the excess D2D. The reason for surplus on the door to door sheet I always put a ? If I did the walk 6 days a week I may be able to supply an answer but as my floater does 1/6th of the items it's not for me to know or care if he did the items on my day off, maybe if our line managers checked that the items were in the frame then they may have the answer!

And when are they supposed to find time for that??? Once everyone's out the office, it's cuppa tea time. How dare you try and interfere with that!!!postmanplod69 wrote: maybe if our line managers checked that the items were in the frame then they may have the answer!

Re: Excess D2D
My rep says that the union is doing something about the D2D excess situation, and that its above his head. I think my whole office is currently throwing in excess D2D. DOM not interested when I tell him how many extra I've got, sometimes 40 calls = 240 extra D2D items with 6 a week. Are there ongoing discussions or is my rep useless?

Re: Excess D2D
But where do the excess come from ?monkeymutha wrote:Whats the beef with the excess D2D. Do we have to deliver the excess? Will I get reprimanded if I refuse to? Are discussions still ongoing?
Mine are never more than 1% more than there should be so is your 'excess' (a) because you don't have time to deliver them, (b) houses on your walk demolished but Royal Mail don't know, (c) not enough delivered on your day off, (d) some from another walk dumped with yours when you're not looking or (e) some other reason ?

Re: Excess D2D
On a week when I've worked on the walk every day (covered my own day off) I have had 40 extra. This means I am gettign sent to many. Most peoplein the office have surplus. DOM can't be bothered to find out why, wanted me to tell him why I've got surplus, i.e. count D2Ds, count calls on frame, but why should I do this it is extra work he is just passing the buck.

Re: Excess D2D
A good idea then to get a printout of all addresses on your walk, and that will probably indicate the discrepancy of 40.monkeymutha wrote:On a week when I've worked on the walk every day (covered my own day off) I have had 40 extra. Or it could be they just weigh them instead of counting them, or if there's 500 to a box and 650 on the delivery is someone going to count 150 out of a full box or just pull out what looks like 150 - realistically it would be ridiculous to have someone counting D2Ds other than the initial box count done by machine.

No, as I suggested earlier my actual number of Door To Doors are never more than 1% more or less than is indicated on the box(es) and/or bundle(s).dvbuk55 wrote:Or it could be they just weigh them instead of counting them, or if there's 500 to a box and 650 on the delivery is someone going to count 150 out of a full box or just pull out what looks like 150 - realistically it would be ridiculous to have someone counting D2Ds other than the initial box count done by machine.
The apparent 'excess' will be a discrepancy between your and Royal Mail's idea of how many delivery points there are on the walk, hence my idea of getting a printout of recognised addresses on the walk. I have half a dozen more addresses, so 6 empty properties don't get Door To Doors, but anyone with many less addresses might be advised to get it sorted out rather than possibly having problems with 'excess' Door To Doors.

Because they aren't stupid. While we prat around with their stuff, getting paid at a loss/bare minimum, they can concentrate on stealing our bread and butter - parcels and firms.
In response to the original post, we get excess as well as the opposite. As long as we let the screws know, and don't dump em the other side of the office, they seem cool with it. As for going back over the places you've been to already with excess, I've never heard that one before.

One idea would be to prep one of your d2d into every delivery point on say a Monday, then call the dom over and show him the frame and then the excess d2d left over!

If you have time to do that then I would suggest your walk is too shortBahia Feliz wrote:One idea would be to prep one of your d2d into every delivery point on say a Monday, then call the dom over and show him the frame and then the excess d2d left over!

Re: Excess D2D
I'd say about 15mins max, bout the same as it would take to prep 1/6 of 4 or 5 d2d's in.P13 wrote:If you have time to do that then I would suggest your walk is too shortBahia Feliz wrote:One idea would be to prep one of your d2d into every delivery point on say a Monday, then call the dom over and show him the frame and then the excess d2d left over!
