Surely if we get privatised we'll still have the union who should fight for our jobs and contracts?

Anyone who does buys it must realise that cutting hours and staff when they take over will reduce their profit because the quality of service will go down and people will look elsewhere for their business needs.

Personnal I think any change they want to impliment won't happen straight away as they will first assess the performance of the business, remove useless DOM's and Line Managers and, sorry to say, retire older postman/women who can't do the job effectively anymore because of their age and ability. You might slate me for that last one but we have people in our office who should have retired a long time ago but hang on, taking over 5 hours to complete a 3 hour duty and complaining about it.

With what backing?

If we go down the shares route we probably won't even be able to strike then because we own shares in the business!

Maybe they need to work and cant afford to retire. We all get old so cut them some slack. In this age when we are told we have to work longer we should be looking after them. So what if it takes them longer .I have seen the stress caused by doms being intimidating its not apretty. Is there any laws on ageism anymore. The union should look into this.

I would have thought the chance of privatisation is a reality in very close proximity. On the one hand you have Royal Mail Management and the Government of the day in need of money and on the other hand us. Now I'm not struck on the odds and as for the shares merely honey on the pot lid with, as usual, a lorry load of ifs. I just hope they hold off long enough before I retire but I think it'll be a close run thing.
