What time do you normally finish?

Hi I was told that I would finish quiet early on a Saturday. Do you think that would be the case? Also does every run over the time they are suppose to as it seems that way the way people are talking?

I very rarely finish on or after my time, I usually make half an hour to an hour and I take everything

I can finish either on time or really late on a Saturday, never early, not that I want to finish early, just means the manager can stick more work on me

i use to beable to finish before 1 most day unit my office changed to the system of two workers in a van. We usually make sure we finish on time so we don't get any more work add on :)

Think you'll need to narrow that down a bit. Are we talking delivery, mail centre or something else? Full time or part time?

Officially we should work all paid hours, however if there is no work for you then it "CAN" be Job and Knock for the lucky few.
Best idea is to get used to working to your time as within a year or so the vast majority of rounds will be paired ones and you are unlikely to finish early on those.

You can be put on a"new round" if you finish early, in fact some bad managers expect you to do extra even if you don't have time. When the whole office does the extra bits its called "Lapsing" or "Abosrbing" and there are official ways it should be implemented/carried out for both managers and workers.

In delivery there is no "standard" time - we have Full-timers starting between 5:30am and 7am and Part-timers between 8am and 11am - it al depends on the duty, contract hours and work plan.

Can anyone explain why Wed/Thur/Fri when the finish time is officialy 14:30 why do postie insist on being back in the office for 14:00 there's never 30 minutes of work to do in the office 10 minutes at the most so off home by 10 past 2, can't say their claiming a break, cause they have had a break

So the question is if you've had your breaks should you not finish @ 14:30?

Yes.

However you have not correctly read the agreement that deals with breaks. The statutory break has to be taken somewhere in the middle of the working day, but the contractual break can be taken at the end. Full timers with 40 mins of meal relief are allowed to split the Statutory and Contractual breaks and therefore they are doing nothing wrong finishing at 14:10 if their contract is till 14:30

At one time people used to finish a lot earlier on Saturdays but this was many years ago. A lot of customers will say ' have a nice weekend' to you on Fridays which grates after a while. Saturdays used to be one of the lighter days in terms of mail volume but nowadays on occasions Saturdays can be the busiest day. Personally I usually sort my D2Ds out on a Saturday so they are ready for the following week. This isn't how RM proscribe how it should be done but you will learn over time that the job isn't done their way. The walks are all meant to be timed to be similar or the same length but they never are. There will always be heavier deliveries of which I am signed to one. Rarely finish before time or on time. 18 to 20 years ago there used to be time and place to take the two twenty minute breaks but no more for a long time. Cannot or effectively are not allowed to book extended/overtime if you run over delivery time except in the run up weeks to Christmas.

Celgar - Your duty is obviously too long - use the over running procedure or get the overtime surely!!???

What will happen if/when your working hours are reduced under the proposed new agreement?
