You work on some "specialist", and "complex" stuff?

managers/supervisors

Post by alggomas »

I feel that most of what is happening is due to APATHY of ALL people working for Royal Mail.

You only have to look at the voting figures to see how little WE CARE for our jobs!

Look below from 2007 ballots!

NE Council Postal REps: sent out 143,813 returned: 23,255!!

Clerical Constituency .. 22,489 .. 2,489!!!!!

There are others, but all follow the same pattern! APATHY on a monumental scale.Almost 9tenths of the last listed could not care a damn!!

Before you start blaming the managers [Although I agree some could not organise a piss-up in a brewery] look at ourselves. If we will not do our jobs properly then we are failing Royal Mail our customers AND ourselves.

It is about time managers become people driven and not work driven.

They should also start pulling people who give good reliable postmen/women a bad name. E.G. Always on mobile phones, turning up for work ALWAYS late [and ignored by mamangers]. Coming back from break late after leaving 10minutes earlier. Walking out of the door and leaving their workmates do the work. Standing around after finishing their section without helping their friends [left by the manager].
No wonder we cannot get ut of the door early!!!

My, my, I am impressed. That's a difficult job for 'em, I hear some elastic band counters are on the same box for as long as six years, then they
become DIMs. :Very Happy

I come from a different area as a Key Account Manager looking after Govt accounts.

It would be funny to see some of the posties have a go at meeting clients, discussing tenders and contracts without messing it up  and letting the competition win our business!

True, some managers are useless and should be kicked out but a lot of us work very hard on client accounts and keeping you guys in work by winning against TNT/DHL/DX otherwise lots of mail would by-pass our network fully which would mean a lighter pouch... an empty one! And if you think eBay and home shopping is going to save you... :no no !

Well tbh you're not doing a very good job are you, what with the contracts lost so far
Anyways wtf has it to do with us!!!
We're payed to deliver the s**t,which we do well.
Frontline managers are all a bunch of tossers, and the admin grades we've been getting on here seem to be cut from the same cloth.
And why would we get a lighter pouch seeing as we're the only ones delivering DSA!!
Do you lot drink the same RM bottled water or summin, jeeeze
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If bonehead (an apt name) is one of the Old St RM HQ management lackeys who have been scabbing in Mount Pleasant. I can understand how he thinks our job is easy as they do f*** all while they are scabbing. :lfo :cfo

reply to recent postings from managers.

Post by alggomas »

I am a little confused.
Some of the replies from managers seem similar to the ones from postmen/women. Shooting each other!
The person who says he/she would like to see a "postman" getting contracts etc. seems to think that postmen wear skins and large cudgels.
Many postpersons are well educated. there are many with degrees and professional qualifications we are all skillfull in one way or another. We are perfectly capable of winning contracts [with training]. I am assuming that you had training?

Look at Eastern MLO. All the man hours spent working out new duties [and money] . Yet over a year ago management knew about the implications of the transport speed law! We still changed our start duties to 21:30.
On the 22nd. of October 2007. we will revert to our ORIGINAL start/finish times of 22.00!

I know 2 people who work in Royal mail. I have known them since ! was 9 years old,so they are my friends rather than postmen. One has two degrees.[ the person is more important than ANY qualification!].

One told me yesterday. "some managers would find it difficult to fill a bath"

There are good managers. However there is a Virus in Royal mail which means no one will act to stop the rot because they are frightened of loosing their jobs.

If managers in Royal Mail were managers they would "paper" more people. Those above should also "paper" the poor managers.

So lets stop shooting ourselves and start ENCOURGING each other. ALL of us.

alggomas - excellent post. I for one hope that this does happen, some people do seem to want to stand on the other side of the street and shout at each other. Lets try meeting in the middle and talk to each other as civilly as we can.
