Well putting TNT in perspective they deliver 6 days a week, every other day well I think that is 3 days a week to customers - so if they have a 600, 000 customer base they are only servicing 300,000 a day and according to TNT "our customers are happy with this level of service" - might give the union an insight on what to expect from the public. If RM used the same level of service it would produce a huge saving and must surely be on the agenda for privatisation.

I might be mistaken, but I thought TNT don't deliver on a Saturday, so it's only 5 days a week, every other day. I would agree that this is definitely likely after privatisation, despite the USO. Any new owner will start complaining that they can't afford the USO, and within a few months it will be scrapped with domestic deliveries every other day and perhaps even weekly in remote areas. They would probably offer a daily delivery service to firms for an additional charge.

CVC were willing to pay just under £2 Billion for a 30% stake in Royal Mail in 2009.
It was rejected by the Government because it was considered to be undervaluing the company.
It was the Government who abandoned the deal,not CVC.
Now they could almost pick up the entire company for that kind of money you can be very sure they want a piece of Royal Mail.

Despite the tales of woe RM has huge investment potential which sadly is not good news for employees and I don't think it's going to be another mail network waiting to buy.

CVC were the only company that made a bid last time and they are showing an interest if the Government don't go the IPO route, and that seems to be flagging at the moment. While not exclusively a Postal Company they certainly have a history of "investing" in them - they currently own nearly half of BPost (Belgium's national Mail company) and are looking to sell some of their holdings http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/ ... 2L20130326" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It also had a historical holding with PostDanmark

It's the fault of a lot of different things that we are where we are.
It's very doubtful that the Tories or anybody else would have done things differently,in fact I think had the Tories been in power between 1997 and 2010 we would have been privatised a long time ago and might have been in an even bigger mess.
That's only a personal guess based on how things have gone since 2010,past experience and basic Tory Ideology though.
