Today was my day off so don't know but what I do know is I asked my Rep if we were withdrawing from lapsing/absorption this week his answer was yes we are and when asked if he was going to speak to the members about what was expected from them this week he promptly did his usual disappearing act

I don't really blame the Reps,
They have to wait till HQ tell Branch,
And then Branch have to tell the Area and Local Reps what's going on and if nothing comes out, it's the Reps who look like Idiot's, Which i personally think is unfair.

If the rep is so bad, then someone in your office step up to the mark and try it, and do a better job for you guys.

Been trying to get rid of him for a long time, the problem is he has turned the job into a poisoned chalice and no-one wants the job coupled with the fact that it it is everyone for themselves in the office but I believe he is up for election in October and I have it on good authority that somebody is standing against him this time

Ok so your rep has tainted the job, but why not put yourself forward for a committee position to help the rep(which ever rep) and start to change the image of the role so others may be interested in doing the job, and you get to also learn more about union roles so you can help others with advice...

According to Dingo in another thread nothings gonna happen.He cites that we have already got agreements to deal with the problem...personally if we are gonna have a row with Royal mail then this(which is emergency motion 6- no?) would have at least got the ball rolling....but it looks like a conference moment

Personally I think the members are sick and tired of being told we are going to have a row with Royal Mail,just to see a last minute Joint Statement or in this case "Pace of Change" agreement appear from nowhere to pretend to(but not really) address the situation.

There is a certain lack of bottle at HQ that's becoming more obvious by the day,maybe they have a point,maybe the members are not up for it but at some point some honesty is necessary otherwise the membership's reaction to a call to arms will eventually just be yawns and chuckles.

My own take was the row was never going to be based on the pace of change agreement or in fact the Business Transformation agreement as every office is at different postions , some have got the money , some have got the benefits , some have not and some have failing revisions and some have mail centres open and some have mail centres which close.

The Fact is if their is a row it is going to be on ownership , pensions , and whether they adhere to any agreements and what their strategy is. certainly if CVC is the new owner. I know it is hard for people to move on if their office is not working or their is bullying etc , but the question of ownership , unfair competition , pensions and the future is the battleground at the moment.

Not being facetious, but does that mean that the CWU is going to park the workload / bullying issues while it deals with privatisation ?

If you gave every postperson 500 bricks to build a wall in 4 hours some will finish within the 4 hours some will finish 4 hours on the dot , some will go over the 4 hours that's what so great about the human race were different , we move at different speeds, different minds sets, the wall has been built 5oo bricks gone job done, and tomorrow is another day

But what happens when the next day comes and the foreman has ordered 750 bricks and tells the brick layer he has to work to his time and get all 750 laid in a day, and then tells the ones who were not able to lay the 500 that their performance is not up to expected standards. Will they feel under pressure to come in and start early or work over, i wonder!

No they just go for another fag, make another coffee, spend half hour chatting to the DOM and then say how hard done by they are cause they can't finish, but if someone makes 5 minutes they are the lazy ones !!!!
