Radio 1 news, totally clueless.

Post by The Postal Avenger »

Anyone else hear this report just now, apparently we're striking about pay and job cuts, no mention about the pension and conditions.

They also seem to think that Deutshpost, DHL etc. currently deliver the mail alongside us.

You'd have thought they could get it right by now. :d'oh!

Oh and 'Rob' in London is 'gutted' as he's wating for an ipod, because I'm sure a few more days is going to kill him yeah? :mad

Trouble is they all rely on the service we provide but complain when we try and protect it..

I don't know. The garbage they play on that station is enough to kill anyone.
As for their reporting only some of the facts. I suppose that depends on who they're getting their information from. If the union just put an advert in one of the daily tabloids stating exactly what royal mule are trying to do people might take notice and agree that we're right for striking.

Maybe if Ward and Hayes got on air and explained our situation we would have less explaining to do
Where are they hiding, Bob Crowe would have been on every channel from the BBC to Television X by now
to get the railmans point across

What you've got to remember is Radio 1 is targeted to an audience of 11-15 year olds so there news coverage is always s**t. An Ipod is always more important than my pension (sarcasm).
Mick Kavanagh was on BBC breakfast outside coventry mail centre and gave a good account in the short time they gave him. What the union needs is a question time debate on BBC with Hayes, Ward, Dozzzzzzzzier and LIEgthon and an audience full of postal workers

Fair play to Jon Gaunt on Talk Sport this morning. He dedicated the last half hour or so of his show to the postal dispute and took calls from various postal workers from across the country who put him and his listeners in the picture about why we are going on strike. The general public at large are ignorant of the real facts as they only go on what they read in the (largely)right wing press and media.Unsuprisingly no senior management made themselves available to state their case on the show.

yes, i just looked at this :
http://newsforums.bbc.co.uk/nol/thread. ... #paginator

on bbc website. and this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7027142.stm

they only let pre-approved comments in, and there's a recommended section, all with anti-strike comments funnily enough.

The idea of taking out an advertisement page in a paper is a good one. Why haven't they done that?
