They've never picked managers on a seniority basis.
The whizz kids are the result of the graduate entry training scheme. They were supposed to make the management base more professional.
they have done in the past,,,,,two old hands put in to go on the acting bout 16-17 years ago. the senior bloke got it. so it was done.

In whos' eyes is this 'cracking'? The thread was designed to wind people up. No basis , no fact. Just have a go at the 'more senior' posties.

To be fair to crammy there are some gems in this thread - however crammy ignored them, and when others, myself included, tried to enter into a real debate with him he made no reply to those posts. He knows what debate is - he just doesn't enter into it.

No Crammy is right we should put those over 70 out to grass - I remember the film Soylent Green - I can't wait for the nice music, gentle breeze over a host of Golden daffodils and the closing of the curtains..........................next year it could be those over 65..............we wouldn't have to pay old age pensions then and there would be more money for the younger people to spunk on grass and booze.......................and I ain't talking lawns.

Is this the scene where Posties doing duties in 2 hours are picked up and returned to the DO.

Lets debate this..... when all senior posties had it easy during the first and second delivery... we were all laughing, now we all do a proper days graft, and admit it, the guys and gals that struggle most are the most senior staff. Dont get me wrong, most staff are cracking people, but alot are a waste of royal mails resourses.

I just have the opinion that office based roles and out door walks should be based on performance. Senior staff and the majority of them are not as productive as many of the younger staff. We all get paid the same. So we should all get treat the same. So seniority should be scrapped and us all put on a level playing field. I just dont unerstand how ill make a point... and here it is.... how a senior staff can sort X amount of letters per min whilst a younger member of staff can sort much more.... yet enior staff get the better FT contracts due to seniority. This should be performance based... Now if you all had a company, would you want to hire an older guy at same pay as a younger guy though younger guy does same job but much more efficient?

I know alot of members on here are of the older generation, and dont get me wrong i come across as im trying to wind you all up, but actually im not, im just strong in my beliefs that seniority is wrong, and i hope it gets scrapped. I do believe that when we get 20 years down the line, the newer staff of today and say last 5 years will take over and have this company running better... no hand backs, faster sorting and prep etc.

If you want a true debate with me on this issue as above poster suggested then ill debate. No wind ups, but what i have said here are my true beliefs

DEBATE :dance

There is no substitute for experience and intelligence Crammy, delivery postmen are like donkeys, you've been on a donkey ride surely - you either get one that charges down the beach at a great rate of knots or one that trots like it's dragging a plough behind it but you have to pay the same price for the pleasure.

Fine....I agree.
The faster you can perform the more work you can do.
Next question.

Now the vast majority of folk and children would enjoy the first ride, but i like the way u explain it, the slow old folk enjoy the slow easy ride, that sums up seniority.... no go in life, taking the pee, and being a leach on resources
