Letter from my MP

I recently emailed my MP on my dismay at the handling of our current dispute by the Managment of Royal Mail and the reluctance of the goverment to involve themselves.
I also reminded him how the the cwu have supported the Labour Party over the years.
This was the reply:

I thank you for your email and note your comments. The first thing to say is that for many years under the Tories the CWU campaigned for commercial freedom for Royal Mail and freedom from Goverment interference. This was given by our Labour Goverment in the Postal Services act 2001 which implemented all the requirements of the CWU. In addition this Goverment has invested Â£3.5bn in Royal Mail since 2001 which emphasizes our commitment to the company and the workforce.

The secretary of state and the Minster have met seperately with the leaders of both the CWU and Royal Mail but made it clear it is for the two sides to reach a deal. I am not at all happy at how management have conducted this dispute but the real answer to that is the solidarity of the CWU members. I am more than happy to meet with you and any of your colleagues if you feel this would be helpful.

Things are looking up even the BBC are leading with the postal strikes and giving us some say instead of Lateons crap
