Very true.
If you assault or abuse a colleague outside of work it will be treated in exactly the same way as it would if it had happened at work.
It's bullying,harassment and/or physical assault of a colleague....end of.

2 They should not wear uniform entitlement off duty - except for travelling to and from work.
We realise you can't check every situation where employees could potentially be wearing their uniform off duty. However, you are expected to act where incidents come to your attention, for example, if the uniform is worn while the employee is working on another (external) job or engaged in political activity. Employees can, if appropriate, wear their uniform at officially recognised community activities, but they must still follow the Dress Standard (for example, not mixing the uniform with their own clothes).
It's in the Dress Standards thing.
Mind you so is this.....
5 Hair should be kept clean, neat and tidy and should not detract from the overall image. As a guide, colours that approximate to the natural hair colour range are acceptable but dyed colours such as bright purple or green are not. You should use your judgement, with the deciding factor being whether a hair colour or style detracts from the overall image
And this.....
Personal hygiene is also important and employees must meet reasonable standards.
And this...
Socks must be an appropriate colour that does not detract from the overall image.
Totally accepting "2 They should not wear uniform entitlement off duty - except for travelling to and from work" but is there anything anywhere against stopping at a pub for a pint while walking home from work, especially if the canteen has closed and it's a hot day ?

There is nothing specific because it would be a pointless and never ending exercise to list either all acceptable or unacceptable conditions of where its appropriate to wear uniform not not.
As usual it would be down to context. Sitting in the beer garden at 3pm with a glass or ice water or even a beer would probably be okay. Being in the pub with 20 mates singing rude songs whilst in uniform at kicking out time you'll be asking for trouble. Anything in between would be a judgement call for both the manager and postie.

Thanks TBT.
I had thought that sitting in the beer garden at 3pm with a beer would be okay but anything approaching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diCeubq_WXg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; would not.

I wouldn't bet my job on it.
If you're prone to having a pint after work, take a t-shirt to work with you.
These days too much of what people do ends up on facebook and similar sites and a postman in full uniform with a pint in his hand never looks good.

well if there worried about disrepute in the beautiful joke of a uniform, they should give u time in your duty to get changed into their uniform before the duty and afterwards, im sure policemen, firemen, doctors etc dont have to travel to work all dressed up ready.
