Hundreds of West Yorkshire workers to man the picket lines.

Hundreds of workers at Crown post offices across West Yorkshire are set to walk out again today.

Strike action is being taken by members of the Communication Workers Union for the fourth time, in a row over pay and closures.

They're also opposed to plans to franchise 70 of the offices nationwide.

The union claim it would cut 20% of the Crown network and affect over 800 jobs, and also outstanding pay issues.

The closure and franchising plans are meeting stiff opposition across the country with tens of thousands signing petitions and public meetings rejecting the plans.

Strike action will take place all day and will affect up to 4,000 staff working in 373 Crown post offices throughout the UK.

Dave Ward, CWU deputy general secretary, said: "This government promised no programme of post office closures, but these plans would cut 20% of the Crown network.

"This is under a minister who campaigned against franchising before getting a government position."
