Why bother lying?

Post by Justanotherstar »

Been told twice in recent weeks that there have been no casuals at all requested only to find out that there were a few in both times, if they are sharing shifts out then fine but why lie about it? Is there a secret clique you need to be in to get shifts lol.

If anyone from angard reads this please stop insulting our intelligence... :wave

I don't think there is a secret clique but I suspect there may be favourites. It could be that if any of us have given "preferred" shifts they interpret this as us not really wanting to do the others,

I think they WERE trying to share the work out recently as some of us seemed to be offered alternately a few shifts one week and then only one or a late call the next, but "sharing out" the work isnt especially fair either and must be time consuming for Angard, as in "We will now phone Mr. X he rarely can work but it's his turn."

Also worth pointing out that the late calls are down to the local RM management and not Angard

Absolutely!
Nepotism, inbreeding, favouritism are RIFE in Devonian workplaces despite all the published nonsense about RM "valuing its diverse workforce"? Some Angardees from 2012 were given temporary contracts and many better workers were not chosen as a result of a completely flawed and unfair selection process [ took nearly 7 months  letter application plus interview by one female shift manager :Sick ]. Utterly ridiculous and perverse selection procedures???!! Was there any cognitive testing? NO. Bring it on nepotistic managers.

Mail centres operate on a 24/7 basis and the busiest periods are 1800-2200h when all the mail from various businesses arrive and need to be sorted...hence most angard staff only get 4h/day if lucky???!

There are a few issues here where favouritism is hard to prove

However Giving preference to RM regulars or RM Xmas casuals over Angardees (AWR Qualified), or indeed some Agardees over others, by anything other than a fair recruitment process, including not advertising the jobs to all, or by a dodgy selection procedure, when offering permanent or regular RM work is AGAINST THE RULES

Since when did they play by the rules? lol

TBH i think to an extent the management should be able to choose who gets in, there are so many lazy f***ers at our site it is unbelievable, honestly if they were to go any slower they would be going backwards!! yet they get more shifts than anyone!!! :arrrghhh

1 was taken in the office and warned & docked twice in 1 week, then a quick accusation of racism and all of a sudden he is back in doing f**k all as usual

Since someone at out MC pointed out they'd broken them and, as their recruitment system broke the AWR rules, it was likely to be against the law as well.

Of course in the final analysis someone in Management will choose whoever they want for whatever reason (Im not advocating buggins turn) but not telling long term Angardees, most of whom have been punctual, good attenders and hard workers there are jobs available and giving them to (3 weeks service) RM Xmas casuals on the nod, is definitley wrong.

They then created the "rules for selection" to suite who they wanted.

This has been happening at Chelmsford MC since beginning of the year. Same people being offered shifts week in week out. Others being totally ignored. Not always the best workers either and usually those which started this Christmas. At first we thought it was because they were still on lower wage, but now most are on higher wage and still the same few get the shifts. But still Angard send in new starters when experienced workers are ignored. If Angard say they are distributing shifts fairly based on average hours worked then their bloody liars. RM shift managers know who the best workers are but for some reason seem powerless to demand from Angard which workers they would prefer. Considering Angard are only a staffing agency, this seems very strange. Who ever heard of a employment agency dictating to the employer what calibre of worker they could have? And also, what is the connection now with Reed, as all communication seems to come through them? So in conclusion, everyone concerned with delegating shifts at Angard should be bloody ashamed of themselves for ignoring long standing employees, especially those that had such a rough time during Xmas 2011 when nobody was paid, but stuck around when many walked out. So shame on you Angard and shame on you RM management for allowing and accepting far too many lazy, feckless workers. And a special shame on you Ms Garvey for being so disingenuous in your dealings with people.

Another worrying and unfair practice that is happening at a SW mail centre is that ex-Angard casuals who have been given p/t contract hours and RM contracts recently ARE ALSO ASKED TO DO EXTRA/OVERTIME HOURS by certain shift managers. The whole "selection" process was unfair and flawed based on the whim of an individual despotic female shift manager. Nepotism and perversity...some excellent candidates were not chosen. WHY?
Totally unfair and unacceptable selection behaviour and procedures.

Any extra hours required to sort mail and achieve targets should be given to Angard staff and not RM regulars who ALREADY have contracted hours!!!
Regulars offered O/T should refuse and managers should not chose their underperforming "pets" but select instead :tried and tested, reliable, punctual and top performing Angardees irrespective of AWR!

Hence we have a completely divided workforce...why should those who already have i.e. hours have more?? Totally greedy, corrupt practice and inequitable
.

Angard are actually part of RM so why are they blaming each other...what is the agreed policy on the engagement "of casual flexible resources"? Or is it simply too much to ask? :speak to the hand
