in our office it is impossible to book a day off(unless your a gaffers nark of course then you get what you want  )the result was that our office has over a 1000 days owing to us(I myself have 15 days owing  ).....so eventually somebody from higher up the food chain told our DOM that he must do ANYTHING he can to reduce this figure!

So he started `allocating` leave when we don't want it...example a guy had his weeks annual leave, came back to work,Lino comes up to him " oh by the way your off next week." "no I have only just been off" "well your off next week as well" comes said reply from lino...they got away with this for a good bit until one of our more militant guys pointed out the Working Time Regs section 15,funny how the reps didn't `know` about them. :no no :whistle

Do you think all reps know everything at all times?
We're all fallible. Unless you are the Pope?

No I don't expect reps to know everything, but the working Regs are pretty much a major thing in employment matters  , I would have expected them to at least have been versed in them, but then that would mean that reps actually learned something at these paid for releases, instead of coming back saying that they won the pool competition :cuppa

At no point in my training were working time regulations mentioned.
At no time was there a pool competition either.

Training and education are an ongoing thing.
They are also a 2 way thing.

There is rarely a single issue. Your rep is dealing with multiple issues.
In order to get anywhere there has to be a certain amount of give and take.

I have lost count of the time people have complained about the number of days owing to them but haven't actually bothered to request any of them.
It also isn't realistic to expect all those outstanding days are going to be given as Saturdays

See, that's the problem with staff. We're all me, me, me, self, self, self.
Can I have a day off to get married? What do you think this is? A charity? :Very Happy :Very Happy

not only are holidays being deleted from computor records to maximise staff after granting holidays days owing are not being given in our office so 3 to 6 weeks owing is the norm in our office

If 3 weeks is coming from 1 year then the Manager is denying you your statutory rights and the Area Rep and perhaps even HQ need to get involved.

(or as the government says) https://www.gov.uk/holiday-entitlement- ... ntitlement" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The statutory entitlement each year is 28 days

Most workers who work a 5-day week, must receive 28 days paid annual leave per year. This is calculated by multiplying a normal week (5 days) by the annual entitlement of 5.6 weeks.

8 days bank holiday can be included in the 28 days which complicates matters - however you are statutorily entitled to take a minimum of 20 days plus the 8 bank holidays and they must be on shaky legal, and H&S grounds if they are not allowing people to take even the basic minimum.

GET THE UNION INVOLVED - so important I am shouting it. :nervous :nervous
