tolkien wrote:should we happen to be ready early if there is less mail and we get of the the IPS earlier and are tied up before time 10am minimum ,say we are tied up and ready to go by 9 30 am .we are kept milling about by our line managers who refuse to let us go untill 10 at the earliest they then release us but then we all have to queue up to collect our Specials so we ont get out untill 10 15 at the earliest

this to me seems a complete waste of time would it not be more sensible to let us out as soon as possible to give us more time out on delivery for a change , but they seem paranoid about leaving one or 2 letters in the depot and keeping us out untill our time which is fair enough but would it not create some good will to give us a chance to complete with out rushing about or cutting off.especially as there is always mail left , and they let some of the favorites sneak out with there deliveries with out any comebacks

i have never had a job in which the managers seem to do every thing they possibly can to put problems in ther workers way untill i came here

is being kept in a common thing about the country now ??,
Multiply the 30 minutes you are ready by the number of posties in your office.
Divide it by 5 - and that's the number of duties you can lapse.

less work more duties to lapse and more hours will be cut, its the way things go, and if you have a lot of runners, they can save more hours, its all cut cut cut.
in the run up to privitisation as they merge delivery offices and sell off the rm portfolio.
