Gearing up for a company without a union.
There is no mention of being able to have experience with a unionised company.
if it is privatised what WILL become of the union.,,,,,,and the members??

After a year change of contract, minimum wage, loss of rights, no sick pay, etc etc
Just like the rest of the f**ked up other privatised sh*t across Britain in this capitalist country we live in.

problem we have is our dom and deputy are the best paid postmen in our office.last week we had so many loops outside his office it looked like a scene from rourkes drift.it was frightning i kept looking for the zulu's.
we are carrying vacancies (fulltime)x2 and are constantly having staff and dom's in from other offices to do the work and our dom's answer is to create 3 part time duties because he is not allowed to create ;liar fulltime duties,i reminded him more than once that there was no need to create 2 full time duties as they are already there.let the battle begin :arrrghhh

In his defence, he was unaware that RM would lower it's standards in managers and the skills they require, if he was asked now he'd say you're over qualified. And the fact you're obviously not a c*** excludes you now from RM's point of view.

apparently our rep (according to him) has been offered a managers job. he can go straight in at level 4.,,,? which is the current lino's rank. and he will be skipping over the current ''acting lino'' who has been at his present rank for the past 10yrs. it makes a mockery of the managerial c.v. requirements.

how much is the pay,i've been delivering for 18 years and its getting too much,it shames me to admit it but i've considered putting in for management.we get a steady flow of them and they're all half wits and thats not just me being malicious, phg''s and union reps do most of their work.royal mail really do set the bar low,so i should fit right in.

Ask your DOM, see what they say. Bet they won't tell you.
Think it varies, depends on what level the particular manager is, and size of office/how many staff they have under them(under their foot being squished).
Rumour was our old DOM was on £44,000 per year, though it was never confirmed or denied obviously. Their spouse, a level above, was apparently on £70,000. All exclude bonuses I think. Line managers start at roughly £26,000 I believe. Thought about it myself, but the step up in pay isn't enough to sell my soul. Too much self respect, and I respect my colleagues too.

Well one of the problems is being able to turn your back on your colleagues because you cannot sit in both camps if you want to be successful. Your outlook must change and your perspective on the workload................it isn't difficult if you have the stomach for it.

not sure i could swallow all the propaganda, most of the new managers seem to be like yts boys young, gullible and eager to please, however 44 grand is twice what i earn now,but still!!!

mobile managers will be next 3 offices each.
what do they do anyway issue stages for sickness
have a conferance call
shout out on the sorting
screw up the holiday leave
blame the drivers for anything that goes wrong
make sure the walking staff do there door to doors
put on some videos
have a staff meeting in under two minutes talking about elastic bands
checking how many tracked or registered failed the day before
and give you bits of paper to sign so all the blame is yours
mention the word absorbtion and run in to the office
clear in your missorts and dont forget to weigh your bags.

as for reps going to managers ( could you see billy hayes doing a walk).
