Re: Special delivery concerns
Actually it says a lot about the "modernisation" of RM when this stuff is still going on.
The simple solution is for all Special Deliveries to go out with someone in the office who has a PDA.
Anything else is just penny-pinching.

Mine always works, it may need rebooted but it does work. If the battery runs out then maybe you need the batteries replaced.motch wrote:and when the PDA doesn't work ??clashcityrocker wrote:Actually it says a lot about the "modernisation" of RM when this stuff is still going on.

Re: Special delivery concerns
If it's one PDA per pair then the one with the PDA takes all the signed fors and tracked, that is what you're supposed to do, you shouldn't be using paper when you have a PDA.postality wrote: Ok
1 Only have 1 pda between 2 if buddy needs it he takes it
2 as nearing end of delivery it's usually ran out of charge

2 loops, 1 driver, 1 pda + specials on both loops & no time to break off...... paper is not a problem imhoDGP1 wrote:If it's one PDA per pair then the one with the PDA takes all the signed fors and tracked, that is what you're supposed to do, you shouldn't be using paper when you have a PDA.postality wrote: Ok

But as you stated at the start ........postality wrote:paper is not a problem imho
If you use paper then the SD needs to be confirmed as delivered before 1pm.
Either you need to contact the office .....or they do it by default and the system tells the customer it has already been delivered....when it hasn't.
And the customer is left worrying about where his SD is.

Re: Special delivery concerns
If there are specials that are near the end of the duty and you need to cut off/leave mail behind to get the delivered its not the postie's problem. Deliver what you can in the time. If you have to break off for 10 mins to deliver specials then its 10mins worth of delivering you can not do - its upto the managers to manage that situation.

Re: Special delivery concerns
Always time to break off to do the Specials by 1pm, you may not have the time to finish your delivery but that's your managers problem, not yours.postality wrote:2 loops, 1 driver, 1 pda + specials on both loops & no time to break off...... paper is not a problem imhoDGP1 wrote:If it's one PDA per pair then the one with the PDA takes all the signed fors and tracked, that is what you're supposed to do, you shouldn't be using paper when you have a PDA.postality wrote: Ok

Re: Special delivery concerns
I don't know how it works in other offices but in mine if I get a special that I won't make by 12.45 I inform management and let them make the call.
If they still want me to do it,I do it first and if that means I can't get finished I give them something back, usually something with stairs.
In 99% of cases they take the special off me and give it to some random guy, usually on rehab.
I just wouldn't fail a special.

If you tell them you can't get there on time ,I've heard them says do these first then go back to your start of the delivery

Re: Special delivery concerns
I adjust my duty on the fly to make sure I get all my Specials done, if it means doing the entire last bit earlier then I do it, it only takes a few minutes extra to travel back and do the missed bits. It's just how I work because that's how I was told to do it.fishtank wrote:I don't know how it works in other offices but in mine if I get a special that I won't make by 12.45 I inform management and let them make the call.

Re: Special delivery concerns
My delivery has 3 big loops from the office - I had quite a few specials today, so I made sure I did them all before any other deliveries, using paper - then I gave the paper in at the office before 13:00, and resumed delivery. No problem

Re: Special delivery concerns
disgusting, the managers need to get all the specials out asap, they know some posties cannot get them delivered on time.
