Our group security director Tony Marsh featured on a recent BBC South Inside Out programme, raising awareness of the issues around scam mail

Scam mail is usually addressed mail aimed at tricking recipients into sending money through bogus schemes such as fake lotteries, sweepstakes or other tempting goods and services. Victims are often the elderly or more vulnerable members of the community.

Royal Mail is committed to supporting victims by preventing, deterring or disrupting the activity of fraudsters.

We also support law enforcement agencies that wish to prosecute or take other robust action against scammers.

Tony’s team works with many authorities tackling the problem.

He says: ‘A specialist team has been set up to deal with customer reports relating to scam mail, which will help us to gain an understanding of the scale and nature of the problem and to provide support where required.’

We are currently working with Fife Trading Standards to deliver a Work Time Listening and Learning (WTLL) session to raise awareness of the impact of scam mail on our customers and the courses of action available. If successful this will be rolled out nationally.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Sorry but is this another thing that us poor delivery bods have to do? Reporting scam mail, cancelling stamps, neighbourhood watch, mechanics etc.
