Re: 8th april joint statement
As of next week our office
*No early starters
*If you have 20+20 break you cannot have 20mins off the end of your duty. You take your 20 out there or have the full 40 in the office.
*No job & knock that the DOM has been allowing just because he knows people will leg it round and get the walks done.
If you are a piss taker who comes in an hour early, runs round the duty, don't take meal relief and finishes 2 hours early everyday you will be in for a shock.

So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Re: 8th april joint statement
no you cant rm only bend rules to suit people finishing deliveries as to take their full break could mean cut offs
and i will tell you if everyone started taking proper breaks they would feel benefits to their health and lifestyles
its only a matter of doing it and getting used to it
nb. wtf do you think mgmt do when were out on delivery ,its no fluke all the new offices are situated near a tesco or asda is it

It's common sense advice I'm giving...for reps and especially ordinary members not to get involved in policing a no early start/take your breaks policy initiated by management.halfull wrote:Fish, please support common sense.
Support it by all means, that's the right thing to do but do not get involved in what others do because that is a dangerous game.
No we shouldn't,there are very few situations where I would encourage the use of the conduct code, bullying and harassment, blatant dishonesty or recklessly endangering others by ignoring H&S..would probably be my limit.yes we should encourage managers to conduct members who come in early, take no break and come back early as they are taking jobs out of every office up and down the country.
I'm certainly not going to encourage managers to conduct members for starting early when the reason they are starting early could be management intimidation and unmanageable workload or could be related to personal reasons that they might not want to make common knowledge to the office gossips..
This could get very messy and it's our job to support and educate members to make the right decision, not see them conducted, sacked or off work with stress.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Should be like this everywhere, Already. Shouldn't need to be instigated let alone enforced. Just like to see how long it lasts when management end up with more cut offs, increased overtime etc. Should make those who do the job properly smile for a while.Stormproof wrote:As of next week our office

Re: 8th april joint statement
Personally I don't think this'll fly - it may be an attempt to appear to be regularising attendance but that's about as far as it goes. It must be a bone of contention when an operative comes in early, for whatever reason, preps a delivery or two for that matter and completes the delivery on time every time. The cover comes in on time and does the same and either fails to complete or cuts off, when questioned by a manager he truthfully says he cannot complete in the given time and he doesn't come in early!
It is completely true that postmen are their own worst enemy in that they create in part and in some instances the situation where B&H can be created by inconsistencies in delivery by not adhering to the start times, breaks, not using the prescribed equipment and not using it properly. Having said that I don't see a Joint Statement changing the situation at all, even if it was to be policed I doubt it would last a week

Re: 8th april joint statement
i hate too say this but saying unmamageble workload is a acceptable reason too come in early is beyond ridiculas ! thats the perfect reason not too come in early! the ones who want a job in 10 years are coming in on time and working hours to show the jobs are too big and we need more jobs! if the job is too big and you come in early and get it done will you please tell me how that job will be made smaller please?? the ones who come in early make the ones with a brain look bad and under-standard, most in my office would love to see coming in early, working through breaks & running round coming back before time as a conduct issue which if you look into it with each case they are breaking h&s severely running & taking no breaks so they have no leg to stand on. If we all follow this its our last chance, these p&l jobs cannot be done if you follow the book, lets prove it!fishtank wrote:It's common sense advice I'm giving...for reps and especially ordinary members not to get involved in policing a no early start/take your breaks policy initiated by management.halfull wrote:Fish, please support common sense.

Re: 8th april joint statement
nice sentiment fish but when i finished and returned to office on tue 15 mins early was asked to work to my time by prepping in tmrrws d2ds .
no problem
i then asked what about guys who dont return to office , the ones who start early ,run round ,dont take breaks etc they are finished say 13.00 or before but ive to work until 14.30
fair and equal workload i dont f***ing think so
so much so there,s a letter going off to local management , cwu and then to greene and ward
this is pure discrimination and were taking it all the way

Re: 8th april joint statement
Yours isn't an isolated incidence Hans - we have split duties delivery and packets on P&L, one person starts early at 0645 and preps both deliveries and the second person comes in at 0845 and finishes prep bundles up and they both go off on delivery. On return the second person delivers packets and parcels on the HCT duties assigned to them BUT if they can load the van up and deliver on a light day they both finish at the same time ie 2 hours early for one. The point? Indoor staff are being sent out on leftover duties, holdovers and what have you - rural drivers who return 15/20 minutes early are being sent out on late tracked, missorts etc so as you can see there are still perks to be had for some.hans solo wrote:nice sentiment fish but when i finished and returned to office on tue 15 mins early was asked to work to my time by prepping in tmrrws d2ds .

Thats good because FT didn't say it was acceptable. There is a vast difference between understanding why people do things you disagree with and accepting it as a valid reason. I understand why right wing nut jobs in America want to keep their guns, I don't accept their arguments for doing so though.halfull wrote:i hate too say this but saying unmanageable workload is a acceptable reason to come in early is beyond ridiculousfishtank wrote:I'm certainly not going to encourage managers to conduct members for starting early when the reason they are starting early could be management intimidation and unmanageable workload or could be related to personal reasons that they might not want to make common knowledge to the office gossips..

Again he isn't, nor am I, justifying anything, and you can condemn someone as much as you wan't all I am saying is I agree with FT that its not our place to police members and force them to do "the right thing", or to encourage management to conduct them.halfull wrote:garbage, hes was justifying it then! whats the difference? you sound like a politician :dcfo . if you dont condemn a wrongful act you are accepting it, is that a better way of putting it? more acceptable lolTrueBlueTerrier wrote:Thats good because FT didn't say it was acceptable. What they are doing is wrong but education and support is a better tool to change their habits, than a big stick, especially when wielded by vindictive management. It would be shameful if another worker was conducted or sacked with the support of CWU members just because we don't like or accept what he is doing. Being bullied by one side is bad enough, but then getting it in the neck from the other is a recipe for disaster.
Would I like early starters and runners to change their habits - of course I would what they're doing is wrong. DO I want them sacked or conducted - Like f**k I do thats even worse.

well put. you cannot get through to some people! they are going to cost jobs by doing the job wrong and cause folks who do the job right to get harrast and bullied! we should all police this as this is the only way to prove the jobs are way too big!dvbuk55 wrote:Would the same attitude apply if you lived in a road with a 20 mile limit and some dong kept racing down it at 60
