Depends what you mean by slow, how slow is slow etc ?

For example i do the job by the book and my walk takes me 4hr 30 mins on ave. However a flyer in a car (pre revision office) will cut that down to just over 3hr 30 mins. A casual went out on it last week and took 8 hrs ! no frigging joke :left:

So the flyer thinks iam slow and i think the casual is slow. You get the point.

So how much slower is this poor bugger that people are having a go at. :hmmmm
Hi
, most days hes 1-2,30 hours over, when we had 2 deliveries we left him out on his walk and brought his second delivery out to him. Hes a nice guy and we get on well but he has problems.

Vice versa....Tell DIM DOM you you will be driving back to the office for your finish time and then the DIM DOM has to either take your partner back out himself or just leave him at the office....if he wants to work over his time its his problem not yours :dance

So you pick him up and take him back to the office when your time is up and if he wants to complete it's the managers job to get him back out - of course you could help him but somehow I don't think that's on the cards is it.

taking it at a normal or even slow pace doesn't necessarily make you Brain dead

Brain dead would be doing the headless chicken thing.
This job has changed and the circumstances have also changed.

When I started the delivery side was physical but it was only a small part of your working day,to be honest allowing for transport it was maybe 2 and a half hours.
It was sandwiched between indoor work or a second delivery in a van which gave you time to recover.

Since there were always jobs available in driving(conveyance, packets or network/distribution) or at the mailcentre if you started to struggle with the delivery job there was always a way out while still keeping your job.
That's not the case now.
You could now be on delivery for 40+ years,if the business survives.
If you're a runner carrying a bag I guarantee you'll be lucky to make 10 on a 4-5hr delivery.

Of course there will be plenty who say I don't plan to be here in 5 years never mind 20,neither did I...or 90% of my office.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Just a reply on the cutting off if your not the driver.....We are told if you cut off since you dont have to drive or drop packets back at the office your finish time is therefor 15 mins later !!!!(no having to travel back to the office),and at your finish time royal mail does not have to get you back to the office you have to make your own way home at your own expence ,this is of cause worded to get you to stay out as the hassle of finishing later and travelling back yourself will add considerable time to your day,i stand to be corrected of cause

Not a lot you can do, follow the cutting off procedure and work at his speed.
