Prepped frame then told you can either A. stay till your finish time in the office - doing nothing basically as there wasn't anything to do! or B go home and make the time up on Mon to make sure all is cleared.

I went for option C! which was to come in earlier due to childcare issues - most went for going early (signed a bit of paper) but some just stayed sat on the prep frames

Why are they suspended? We've never had any of that ,and we've had snow bad for years etc.

It depends on the terrain, on my duty there are many you can get to but a few you cannot...........and because I live quite close to the office I have to come in (being well within my foot travel distance).............what was I talking about again

Hills, inclines and steps with uncleared side roads and pavements, then buses cancelled (our transport out to delivery and back)of course 5 inches of snow with wind at 25mph and wind chill of -6c, and very poor visibility due to drifting and wind blown snow I think it was a sensible decision.

Suspended again today - this time not even the town centre deliveries went out - mainly because even main routes are blocked /impassable because they weren't gritted in time.

Third day running deliveries suspended, this time due to ice. Walks prepped and bagged up with Friday and Saturday mail, Monday's sequenced left in frame to be delivered along with Tuesday's mail on Wednesday, assuming we go out Tuesday with other mail. Currently have 11.5 hours banked

People go home early instead of working around the office (and seeing how the DOMs put their days in)

Been thinking about this, what happens if you start time is 8.00 am but you cannot get to your office either by car or public transport (distance of office is 9 miles) but you have another D.O. within in 3 miles of your home but it may take some time to get there by foot, so I walk to the nearer office but I don't get there till 8.30 am, would it still mean my start time is still 8.00 am?

Basically if the manager gives you any choices just say you'll work your hours for the day. Its not your fault there is not work for you just sit by your fitting and drink coffee. If they say it's safe enough to go out ask for them to put it in writing before you go out. This is just what we needed the equvilant of a strike just before Xmas whilst getting paid for it
