Hi Have been doing this job about 4 months, was ok for first 3 and then they put me on as a floater , dont no what walk I am doing one day to the next, well actually this week I am on the same walk until friday when obviously there is a strike again. My question is as a floater are door to doors obligotory or can I leave them? the people in my office arent very approciable. Also what would you say is the maximum time for a walk, the one today took me over 4 hours and it was quiet.,A nd that was using my car, by the way I am only p/t 25hours cant get any more hours of these people.

In our office if your a floater you can leave the D2Ds if your on a different walk eveyday BUT if you`ve been assigned a duty and your on it all week you are expected to take them.

1 - Your DUM should let you know if you have to do D2D's but only 20% per day (unless you get paid more)
2 - All walks should be 3 1/2 hours but now very rarely are
3 - You should NOT be using you car, that is what the vans are for
4 - If you do your job properly (as per RM rules) then you should be able to book overtime

D2ds should be done mon-fri 20% a day by whoevers on the duty.But i do all my d2ds on my walk as thats what me and my r/day cover agreed,he dont like doing them,sweet by me,all get done, DOM happy.
3.5 hours is the max delivery time as national agreement,could be that its your first time on that walk so it took longer.Find out whos walk it is and ask them how long it normally takes them.DONT USE YOUR CAR ON ANY WALK,ARE YOU INSURED TO ANYWAY,Ask the DOM for a trolley or get bag drops,any problems see the CWU rep for your office.Are you in the CWU if no JOIN NOW.The problem is 25 hours are more then likely not enough time to do your job on these duties,tell DOM and Union rep this and see if full time contract is available.Only other option is to claim protracted overtime for any time worked over your daily hours.

While sorting D2d the other day the manager asked us to stop and prep duties that had to be done for bag carriers, when i told him i am getting my 20% ready he told us that we get paid extra for d2d and so you do them in your own time.

I replied if its my own time i get to choose if i do them or not (RM cant have it both ways) at this he left me alone.

Was i right is this the right stance to take as others are easily intimidated in our office

I asked my union rep about this one day about a month back, as I was confused about it as you are. He said to me that its part of my duty and I can prep them in and deliver them in my duty time.

Thanks for the reply kanuuuuuu thought i was right but until recently didn't have a union rep in our office to ask (someone just took it over a couple of weeks ago but still finding his feet)
