This is complete bollocks. Royal Mail is not exempt from the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act 1974 much as you would wish it be.

depends also on the conviction! Wouldnt want to hire a postie with a conviction for fraud or for stealing... say he went on to take a bank statement and get a loan out... and RM had this information but didntt use it.... that would be irresponsible for RM to hire someone with that kind of history...
