I can't decide whether they are selfish or stupid in our office.We all agreed not to come in early months ago and only the full timers stuck to it.I've tried to get it through to everyone the implications of not doing the job properly but of those who use their cars only 2 have reverted to using cycles.They're burying their heads in the sand thinking the Rm wont implement these changes.We've been 100% throughout the strikes but I wish people would realise the striking has to be done side by side with doing the job properly if we are going to win this fight.

Fred is correct about the van situation at Watford,i am from the same office,its not safe to have them all in the operation yard so the staff car park has to used at night.I think there are more casuals and managers than delivery posties at the moment.The amount of backlog appears to be growing even with managers and casuals helping.....let all the offices follow suit,managers wont be able to cope.

Gaza......dont take the bait my friend,they have tried all sorts of tricks at Watford to get the chaps & chappess's to walk on unofficial IA,this weekend is make or break for us,it needs to be a strong show on all 4 days of IA,i stand to loose a sh1te load of money if they get their way with the pension.

Although most people still used cars, most people didn't come in early and most put their bags out for the drivers. I saw vans loaded to the brim and drivers saying they might struggle to deliver everything.

Sadly, most didn't take a break and most still used their cars but it's early days yet and more and more seem to be getting on board with the campaign. We've got a union meeting tomorrow, which should clarify any issues people have.

It's a start but EVERYONE needs to get on board with this one, if RM won't back down - then we should stand our ground and defend our jobs.

West Park delivery office Plymouth was a disgrace,150 postie's and 3/4 of them took their cars,it's so dishearting.

my day off today, but yesterday at stockport do, we had 70% thrown in or throwing in at 5.20am yesterday(we start at 5.30am here)guy who works next to me has no drop points on his walk but still continues to use his car and start before his time,we probably have 150 people in our office too,30 or so on my sector which before this action probably 26 or 27 either use cars or go in at silly o clock,will try and get in work early tomorrow just to see how many have started early,noticed an increase of 2nd pouches going on the vans though drivers are encouraging people to do so which is good, but nowhere near enough for my liking.

whats wrong with people, they'll all be moaning soon when they have got to work late all because they took their car and got the job done quicker, obviously this was the norm under job and finnish but thats out the window now with half the jobs, at our office weve had people disciplined over the last few years for using their own cars ?????

What you are doing is legal and R/M can not do a thing about it

spiderwoods: Note it is the responsibility of Royal Mail to get you back to the office for your finishing time, if that means they have to hire mini buses to pick you up so be it. if you are left out after you duty time they will have to pay you Extended delivery overtime. The whole point of this campaign is to show the job doesn't work without our goodwill and our cars.

Throgg: i assume if you pouch off on delivery then you must live nearby that dely? if not why are you pouching off on delivery, surely you should cut off and be taken back to the office. Also pouching off seems to be very localised as this is not a practise that happens in the WD, EN, AL postcodes as far as i'm aware.

I live 12 miles from my DO and my duty is a further mile and a half from the office. Been in for 17 years and we have always had blue pouches. Any mail you can't gain access to deliver, you endorse' place in the blue pouch and hand it in to a local PO or drop into a box. We have 10 mins built into the end of the duty to do this, then your job is done for the day. RM claim that as you have to make your way into work on your own time, once your delivery is finished you have travel in your own time to get home or return to the office to get your car. That has always been the case in our office.

The only exception they make is if you are coming back to the office to pick up part of another duty on O/T, or you you have to make your way to another delivery on O/T, then they will provide bus fares.
