CWU rep/Acting manager.

Conflict of interest surely. Get area rep onto it asap. We had a rep who wanted to be a planner as well as rep. No chance.

Why would you get your Area Rep involved?
It's the members that choose the rep...or choose to get rid.

If rep was adamant they were going to do both then surely some members would have to register a vote of no confidence in the rep to the area rep?

Call a member's meeting,tell the rep to f**k off,job done.
I can't see any scenario where a rep would try to continue when the majority of the office had told him/her to bolt but if for some crazy reason they did then your next step would be removing them officially.

In my opinion you cannot be a Rep & an Acting Manager Inform the Branch Secretary and he will be stripped of his CWU credentials for deffo

I can't see how you could have your credentials removed just for being an acting manager,you are still a CWU represented grade and i suspect that might be construed as unlawful.
As i've said though it's immaterial because any office that accepts this kind of thing deserves all they get.

1.3 Any representative of the Branch who decides to place himself/herself on the Acting Managers list or take up the position of an acting or substantive manager shall be deemed to have resigned from their CWU representative position within Branch and shall not be permitted to hold or stand for any future CWU position within the Branch. He/She may appeal against this decision to the Branch Committee who will make the final decision, however this will not preclude the individual(s) appealing to CWU Headquarters.

Morally i agree with it,legally i think it would be shaky.
What would happen if the members in that particular office wanted the guy to continue as a rep?
Not likely but possible.
Would the branch oppose local membership democracy?
Very....dubious.

This is why i believe the office should be left to deal with it.

in my 25 years in royal mail
i have known many union reps becoming acting and fully made up managers
royal mail love to get a good union rep on thier side
and on the other hand
many ambitious postmen go on acting managers list hoping to be made up
they get rejected , put back as postman
and end up as union reps
