Its a pity that there is doubts over the handling of the Branch vote and I hope they take some of the points Fishtank made on board but I think they are doing the right thing by debating it in the branch and at least show they stand for something.

I don't actually disagree with the decision and i think it's a positive thing to see the Branch take a position that may be at odds with HQ if they believe it is the position of the Branch membership but....there is an issue nationally about poor AGM turnouts and how democratic you can actually call them especially if as seems to be the case Branches are going to merge and become geographically larger.
There is also a more local issue of disengagement and poor Branch to member communication at Scotland No 2.

I don't make these comments to have a cheap pop at the Branch,I actually get on well with most...of the Officials but trade unionism is under attack like it's never been before both from Government and general apathy and old fashioned ideas of what was considered "good enough" democracy and engagement are now extremely dangerous to the future of the trade union movement.

I know the AGM issue all too well so in no way am I knocking the fact that you are holding the branch to account and I wish they had made proper arrangements so the vote backing the YES campaign was watertight and not open to accusations that its not representative of the members as it surely will be by certain quarters.
