A NATS MSP last night told Lib Dem chief Willie Rennie to get STUFFED — for branding pro-independence postal workers TURKEYS.
Jamie Hepburn hit out at Mr Rennie’s comments after a branch of the Communication Workers Union backed a UK split.
Mr Rennie claimed the staff were like “turkeys voting for Christmas”.
Last night the SNP lodged a motion in parliament attacking Mr Rennie for “personally insulting” the posties.
And Mr Hepburn said: “The postal workers have obviously ruffled a few feathers. Willie Rennie has a nerve. It is the Lib Dem leader who is guilty of ‘fowl’ play.”
The SNP motion “praises the work done by our postal workers and regrets that Willie Rennie chose to personally insult them”.
We told yesterday how the CWU Scotland No2 branch — which represents 3,200 postal workers — decided at their AGM that leaving the UK is “the only way forward”.
The move was hailed as a major boost for the Yes campaign.
But Mr Rennie said it was unwise amid uncertainty over SNP plans for Royal Mail.

MOTION S4M-05828: Jamie Hepburn, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth
Scottish National Party, Date Lodged: 05/03/2013
Praise for Postal Workers
That the Parliament praises the work, day in and day out and in all weathers, of Scotland's postal workers and notes with regret the comments of Willie Rennie, the leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, who compared the workers to “Turkeys voting for Christmas” in response to the democratic vote that was taken at the annual meeting of the Scotland No 2 Branch of the Communication Workers Union, which represents 4,000 postal workers, including members who deliver mail to the Parliament, in which it agreed, by a 90% majority, to affiliate to Trade Unions for Independence and to back a Yes vote in the referendum in 2014.

"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."
