conspiracy theory?
We were told that royal mail and the cwu are in talks and they have been nudged by the goverment to sort it out. Could this be because there is an election coming, royal mail have already cancelled the d2ds for the next 3 weeks so ideal for all the election buff. If this was true surely our position becomes stronger, so hopefully the cwu will not accept a crap deal.

Both an opportunity and a danger
The opportunity for us, if a November election is called, is that we could obviously take the Bolshie approach and say "OK, you want us to deliver polling cards, and leaflets and postal votes. We want you to:
1. tell Leighton and Crozier to settle a decent deal on all the dispute issues (or better still, sack them both),
2. "review" PostCom's imposition of competition (better still, reverse it, scrap it), and
3. commit to reversing and opposing liberalisation of postal services in the UK and Europe in your election Manifesto..."
But the danger, of course, is that a snap election will be used as a stick for the Labour Government to beat loyal Labour Party members of the CWU back into line, and not rock the boat...
What will make the difference is how much those officials feel they would be putting their positions in jeopardy if they toed the Labour line, rather than putting members first, second, third, and always before their party...

Oh, and then there's the small issue of whether we continue to fund Labour if they continue to let Leighton and Crozier kick us in the teeth...

I ACTUALLY THINK WE SHOULD'NT JUST WITHDRAW FUNDING FROM "LABOUR" BUT WE SHOULD HOLD TALKS WITH OTHER POLITICAL PARTIES. THIS LOT ARE LABOUR IN NAME ONLY, THEY ARE BLUER THAN DEBBIE DOES DALLAS!! AND WE SHOULD LOOK FOR AN ALTERNATIVE.
Melvin can obviously see what a mess AL and AC are making and have got into and has walked before his rep takes a dive. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, at government level, it is becoming very clear, whatever Gordon Brown is saying publicly, privately his agenda is very different.

Anyone know how I get odds at the bookies for a November election and the calling off of CWU strikes.
Labour have asked for donations to be brought forward - Election.
Royal Mail had talks with CWU Monday and are upbeat about reaching an agreement. Talks continuing today.
Billy and Dave know that they are probably on the way out. They will need new jobs to maintain their current standard of living. What bets for them to give the funds and call off the strikes.
Anybody know how to get the bets?

I said the exact same thing when all that rubbish kicked off. Why can't someone refuse to take any of the other parties bumph because of political differences? Surely the same principal applies to all parties or it's prejudicial and totally wrong! Whatever reasons we're given as to why we have to deliver Labour or Conservative leaflets is just as valid with any of the others, including the BNP.ROCKY wrote:postworker one for you last time we managed to ditch the n/f papers on grounds of personal feelings do you think we could do the same with labour this time after all they are attacking us personally

Of course it is. If we can refuse to deliver the Bigots, Nobodies and Perverts leaflets, the same should apply to the rest of them. Illegal war mongering, back door privatising, school closing, ward closing anti-union Labour should not be given preferential treament just because they're a big party.kinmad4it wrote:I said the exact same thing when all that rubbish kicked off.
