Absolute shitter of a day for me,due to being on leave last week and my cover going sick ended up with 9 bags today and couldnt do any door to doors, told my line manager that when im back in wednesday will be booking several hours docket plus the hour im owed for a week last friday  ,unfortunately when i came in at my start time(5.30pm) 75% of my sector were already thrown in or throwing in,problem we have in my office we are split on 2 floors between 5 sectors and about 150 or so delivery staff, saw an increase in people putting bags on the van though and the drivers on my sector are encouraging people to put bags on the van but you will still get the usual suspects who will continue to come in early, why dont people realise that if they are on a shite walk coming in early IS NOT the answer.

because they can still finish 30 minutes earlier by coming in early and rushing about (the fact that theyve lost that 30 mins by coming in early doesnt seem to register with them) so they can go home and watch tv and fall asleep on the sofa.

Great today people who are not looking forward to strikeing actually warmed to the idea, after some managers tried on the flexibility approach which went down like a shagging certain zepplin...tried removing people to cover sh#te walks etc for agency staff to cover there own walks you know the saying (ALL WALKS ARE EQUAL La La La La LaLa) needless to say it nearly ended up on the other side of the front gate. But a little smooth talking from te unit rep and complete support from the guys soon seen the happy crew back on board, needless to say agency staff were dealt a sh#tty stick hay ho.Looking forward to Friday slightly more than Mr Leighton. Could do with not loosing the money but hey if that what happened here this morning is the shape of things to come with regard to FLEXIBILITY stand by...I PREDICT A RIOT
BIG UP BOYZ & GIRLS UNITE do not let the CYBERMEN GET YOU.

Today was a quite a light day mail wise, but due to so many new entrants coming in on part time hours, we are losing full timers off the IPS so they can prep their walks for them,
there are 3 divisions in our office, the division i was on, had 2 staff to throw off all the mail (including myself) :mad we were there for 1 1/2 hours, with a "normal" amount of staff, we would have had it sorted in 40 mins max,
to make matters worse, there were a few members of staff taking the p***, reading newspapers when they should have been grafting, staff' chucking their own walks off because they were doing 1 row of another walk on o/t (they haggle with dom to do this, if they weren't allowed to prep their own walks they wouldn't do the o/t),
i won't bore u with the details, but i snapped at a colleague who pretty much accused our division of not pulling their weight, when their own were nowhere to be seen, i honestly dread to imagine the mood i'm gonna be in when it gets to thursday and we get battered with mail.
i've been in a foul mood since this morning, i'm resisting the urge to get a crate of beer in and get slaughtered, but knowing what i'm like with a hangover i'd better not for the sake of my colleagues. :evil/mad

QUIET BUT INTERESTING DAY

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Very quiet on walk - done most of me d2ds only about 100 left out of 500+ really struggled to milk it out as had to attend union meeting. Worked to time and attended quiet a lively meeting - see other post. Strong support though for 2 hr strikes at end of new working times if the PEC agree with it. Apparently we don't need a ballot as its covered by the National strikes.

Management are flapping over the strikes in my office and threw everything they could at us today, makros, electoral reminders, council mail, at least if they DO get called off we should have an easy enough end to the week RIGHT!? :d'oh!
