There's always one grade A nugget that ruins it isn't there?

Learned today that the new process of managing absence included them phoning up TWICE A DAY.
Obviously it slipped their 'minds' that contact is supposed to be agreed not imposed and I certainly call being nagged twice a day an imposition.

Here's a hypothetical question?
What happens if some prick insists on a schedule of contact like that?
Boss: I want to phone contact at least twice a day?
Malingering work-shy fop: I would prefer once every couple of days.
Boss: Nope, twice a day and we'll stop your sick pay if we get no answer when we ring.

it's not twice a day more like twice a week which is still one too much in my opinion.
But this was agreed between RM and the unions... is what they will say when somebody kicks a fuss up.
Funny how we never got a vote on this appalling new `great deal`it was left up to the branch to mention it to the workfarce and then vote on it accordingly, funny but we never had a word about it until the bloody thing had been agreed.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09

While there may be legal/tax/woteva/we're being akward feckers issues with the bag selling thing, there is the below...
8. A Personal Cover Register will be established to facilitate individuals making their own arrangements if they wish to cover for each other. This cover could be for part of or the complete shift/daily attendance. Individuals will again be required to provide at least 24 hours notice in advance, confirm they have the skills necessary and that there will be no additional cost to the business (a template for the Personal Cover Register for use is attached at Annex C).

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

i dont think that applies to cash in hand postman,, i think that is to do with just getting your mate to do some or all of a duty on a swap basis. i.e swapping days off getting someone who is on their day off to come in and do your duty on that day, and obviously you give him your day off. etc. im sure cash is not allowed to change hands anymore.

They've got it in for one lad at work who's kicking off about not wanting to go over, he's started taking his breaks before he leaves. One Lino told him that he was "going deliberately slow" it's more a case of them trying to wring more prep out of less people as the budget s**t is rolling downhill from on high. Needless to say this guy has a long length of service behind him, just like the guy they're trying to IHR with the slow healing injury.

Couple of drivers are asking to be taken off driving duties as the recent change in hours affects them too negatively.
One has been told that he'll have to do a walk and a half weekdays and a walk and a third Saturdays. He'll arrive each day to a bagged up walk (that old chestnut again) and do nowt but deliver. Other guy hasn't been told if he'll be doing similar duties as yet. Obviously this is a c**** trick to encourage them to stay on driving duties.
Thoughts anyone?
Victimisation?

Well it would depend on what the hours are for each duty really and if the old duty was a part time duty without IPS and Prep - when you say it affected them negatively what exactly "negatively" is that? You work your hours and that's it regardless of what you do surely.

Hard to explain as I don't know all the facts as to how badly being made to start 3 hours later affects their family life, young baby care etc
The 'old duty' I take it is the all walking duty that one is being ' threatened' with?
Can't be sure as far as I know it hasn't been decided on which walk it will be.

If all finish times are the same, if it's because they can't get done, just tell the drivers to cut off and finish on time. Leave it the managers to sort it out. I'd rather do a bit of everything, rather than have to go on delivery for the best part of 8 hours every day, soon bugger your joints up.

I would say, and it's just my opinion, that the manager is trying to bully them into staying and doing the driving jobs available. We often get threatened with transfers (to somewhere they believe you don't want to go) in my unit if you speak up about changes in revisions etc.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
