Some services a business offers at no cost because it enhances the customers perception of value for money in the basic product.
In the last month i must have P739'd at least 200 items.
I've had 2 redeliveries in that time.
It's not likely to bankrupt us.
Yes I must admit it was a bit tongue in cheek ft :Very Happy It's immaterial how many times we redeliver when we are visiting the area every day and we are only holding things for a maximum of 18 days then off it goes.

So:
If the item is 739d on 1/3. A redelivery is requested on 17/3 but they aren't in to recieve it.
It is 739d again on 17/3.
Would it be returned on 18/3 or would it be held for a further 18 days and not RTS until 4/5 April?

It should be returned, it certainly is in our office. If that wasn't the case the callers would be hanging on to stuff ad infinitum a failed redelivery does not extend the holdover period.

As with controlled access issues the 18 day period starts with the initial attempt and is not reset after subsequent attempts.

Wouldn't sending "reminder" cards out be a good thing to do.
If it was proposed as a WCM initiative every office could do that and hopefully generate more redeliveries.

The sender only paid to have it delivered ONCE, so why should they get a re-delivery free of charge !!

Go and collect it.
Then Royal Mail shouldn't offer the service. I didn't want it bought round by Kelly Brook in a see through dress as we don't offer that, we do offer redelivery.
I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

I get a lot of books/junk through the post and I usually arrange delivery to my local office online (http://www.royalmail.com/personal/recei ... redelivery). It almost always works fine but sometimes wires get crossed. I go to collect the parcel, it's not there, our local postie drops another card through the slot. I go back to the computer and the process repeats itself two or three more times. Good fun for everyone involved.

we`ve just been told that we need to write 24 hours in the "wait until xx hours before coming to collect parcel"
is this typical ? seems we are offering a worse service all the time....

One walker in our office writes 4 hours on everything as he always comes back with any 739's. He doesn't actually take into account that there might be more than his stuff coming back.

Not the most popular bloke in the callers.

Except on Saturday when you write 48 hours.

In our office it is always 48hrs, by instruction of the DIM. It's to allow for any delays and to prevent customers from calling to collect the packet only to be told it isn't there. At which time they go bonkers. It often takes a week for Recordeds to turn up.

It doesn't matter what time we put on the P739s, the people just turn up as soon as they get the cards

My favourite day to write out a 739 - a nice screw you to anyone that won't open the door on a Saturday morning... I mean afternoon.
The machine stops.
