I can also understand why more and more members just see the union as an insurance policy.

Does anyone think the r mail will scrap this way of working in the very near future ?

100Bs is a performance level that would be expected from staff on an output related bonus or pay system such as piecework and is usually found in manufacturing industry.

The target for indoor work (Mail Centres and DOs) should be no more than 75Bs which is in itself a very good performance level. When EP was calculated for Mail Centres the GOOD performing ones were only achieving 60-65... so RM Management once again show they do not have a grasp of performance management for manual work.

Remind us again what 75Bs is Budfrog.. “Steady, deliberate, unhurried performance, as of a worker not on piecework but under proper supervision; looks slow, but time is not intentionally being wasted while under observation”..

that's right.. we're not, and never have been, employed on a piecework basis so listen-up and do the job 'properly'.. that is as they want it..

Before agreeing any target figures at all be they 75 or 100Bs etc CWU should urgently seek the ratification of existing EP levels in DOs.

The most accurate way to do this would be to pick a sample of DOs large, medium and small with a range of current 'recorded EPs' high, medium and low. These units then to have their performances checked using Rated Activity Sampling studies over 3 or 4 attendances where arrival/despatch profiles, work plans, traffic volumes, actual hours used and performance levels will be recorded. It may seem a little 'big brother' but it's one of the best processes for checking workload and performance.

The summaries of all these studies to be compared against reported performance. My bet is that the best units will not be as high and the worst not as low with the Avg ones being reported maybe a little higher than they actually are.

If they ever do go to the franchise system having a van and a pairing already set up makes it a lot easier for them.

Members have watched this play out for 3 years with nothing but silence from HQ,now Dave decides to put his fighting trousers on(maybe) and as reps we're supposed to talk our members into joining the battle when the truth is they haven't really stopped fighting with management since 2009.....on their own and in most cases without even the support of their branch.

I'm not too impressed how HQ has sat back over all this-the agreement was crap,the revisions even worse.
Sometimes we local reps feel isolated, but I have good support from my branch who always act on
my issues, unfortunately DSM'S don't give a damn about what you report they have their own hidden adjenda's(mainly protecting a fat cat bonus on top of their fat cat wage)
This is where frustration sets in a as rep, being full of good intentions to get things right, knowing full well that these power hungry corporate facists rule the roost.
I have been fighting from, well it's seems--ever! And loads more grey hair to prove it.
Unfortunately though I still find it hard to understand why members would rather blame the union all the time, for we all are the union, and not stand united
in our offices,not just pockets of people but part-time/full time, drivers, locker, etc and say NO! Get stuffed we will not be bullied.
Instead of the same few outspoken members(prone to isolation and victimisation from 'der management')stand together as a true force!


I will never give up being a rep and will fight until the last mast hit's the water.
Maybe HQ have let us down but we have ourselves as well by not sticking together and taking RM to task.

Look at other industries, companies and what rights the staff have got--i think you will be shocked.
This union has kept us fairly even keeled compared to some.
Always be one step ahead, play their game but be wiser. Revenge is sweet.
