cant afford to strike............

Post by kudos »

really you cant afford not to

our area rep forwarded on the "final offer" from royal mail, hope most have read this by now

second to last page:

1.5% added to basic pay to replace d2d payments plus other reductions in our hard earned rights inc pension rights, pressure ot etc

FIGURES

in our office average round 500 drops, very few weeks less than 3 sets of d2d

1.67 x 500 x 3 x 44 weeks ( 6 weeks max leave and xmas no d2d) total earned £1102

1.5% on basic £253 ( £325 + 1.5 % ) £4.90 per week x 52 =£250 aprox

spot the £850 difference

points to ponder

500 drops or 250 you will get the same

the 1.5% works on basic pay, if part time you will get less even if you have the same drops,

CANT AFFORD TO STRIKE, CANT AFFORD NOT TO..........YOU DECIDE

I made almost £500 in election material back in May. I delivered them all in one day, along with the mail. It took me ages, but £500 in one day. They want to take that payment from us!!!!!

Don't just look at the money bit. Take a gander at the flexible working proposals.Annualised hours simply means they cut your hours to 30 or less in the summer and when it gets heavier you owe them so you are stuck out on 10 hour days or more. Christmas is gonna be wonderful! If we can't turn out support for the strike this time we might as well all pack up and look for something else. :mad I for one won't be working and I hope the strike breakers curl up and die. :mad

I can't afford to strike, two kids under 5, morgage, bills etc, etc,

It's hard for us all but I feel that we have been forced into taking I/A.

The flexible work scares me. Longer hours during the winter, no extra payment for D2D, Walks covered for no O/T (who's going to decide whos going to take out the extra work for nothing it's going to cause havoc)
Having to change arrangements when you are told to come in later/ early by up to two hours with a weeks notice.
No prospects for people being made up to 40 hours per week.

It's not looking good.

They are looking for a work force who can fit their life around Royal Mail. Don't they relize that most people have a life outside the business. Our partners have to work as we don't get a bonus like the chairman and his boys. Sorry Mr leighton my 4 year old can't get home by herself.

They have ruin the business and we are the ones who they are trying to pay the price for their cock ups.

1/ Pension's
2/ Downstream access & the final mile.
3/ New machines promised since the mid 90s
4/ Lorries driving at a reasonble speed and not running a business relient on people doing plenty of overtime.
5/ Getting rid of to many full time staff

The list could go on and on.

Let's all stick together and sort this out for good and send Leighton off to BHS

how can you say you cant afford to strike but then complain about the proposed changes ? If you dont strike you have no voice, dont expect everyone else to cover for you we all have bills to pay. Try and work some overtime if youre finding it hard or like someone else said cut back on some of your spending.

I think you misunderstood the post from Wdo - I think he starts off saying he cant afford to strike, and then lists the reasons he is. At least that's the way I read it.

You can't afford to strike,no-one here could agree more..i don't care if you are a part time day relief cover or a full time postie of 30 years..NO-ONE can afford to strike!! however..please bear in mind that most of us like a bit of docket,by way of day off or double up,extra money makes life a little easier on a friday..Now close your eyes and imagine ALL! that overtime gone, replaced by a system where you still deliver that extra quarter/half/full walk FOR FREE!!!!! Gratis!! At MANAGERS!!! dicretion, that's not...Can you/would you like overtime but YOU ARE/WILL do overtime, and forget your day off because if your duty is uncovered someone else will be doing it for free instead of you!! So you can't afford to strike???by that reckoning in 6 months you won't afford to LIVE!!! I don't understand how you people remain blinkered so...But don't worry guys cause there's always plenty of jobs on the BINS!! JOG ON LITTLE SACB!!!!
if you aint payin..the mails stayin!!!
