Off sick and confused!!!!!

I'm in a similar situaton. I'm off sick atm and hospital are deciding what course of action they're likely to take. Spoke with the hospital a few days ago and he's suggesting an op which will put me out for 3-4mths. As i've already triggered a stage warning already and got a sick line. if i go back under light duties whilst the hospital decide my fate which could be in a few weeks time, will i enter another stage warning if i need to go off for the op?

Depends how they play it you could and you may not it depends how much of an automaton your managers is. If they do stage you make sure its noted that its a sick absence caused by the same condition, and the treatment for it as well.

However, the good news is that if you got to a stage 3 in the same sick process its unlikely you will be up for dismissal as having the operation shows you are taking all the necessary steps to sort the condition out.

Somebody in my office was in this situation a while back. Had 3/4 months off with knee problem, waiting for surgery, given date which was then put back by months, offered to return to work until then, only to be told by the DIM that he would incur a second absence and be put on the next stage level. So he just got a sick note from the doctor and stayed off the whole time. Tried to do the right thing but got it thrown in his face, so threw it right back.
