Where a full time post is advertised internally, it will be available to all full time employees and part time employees, who have opted for full time employment, in that resourcing unit. The posts will be filled on the basis of “most senior individual”. Where a part time post is advertised internally, it will be available to all employees as above and filled in the same way.

5 6 The resulting vacancy will be temporarily filled by a reserve, a surplus employee, a transferee from within the wider resourcing area or another resourcing area or by direct recruitment in line with the process above. When the number of consequential vacancies in the resourcing unit reaches 5%, or after a period of six months following the last such exercise (if earlier), the posts will be advertised in the resourcing unit, en bloc and filled on the basis of seniority. If this results in any further vacancies, these will be filled, using the same process as above.
Having said all that we've always given any displaced members first shot at any vacancies.
Maybe we were wrong, really don't care,we'll still do it that way,to me it seems fairer.
i concur. hopefully mtsf gives displaced people fair treatment.

thats me stuffed then. i take it displacement doesnt even come into it? thanks
you'll be alright mailman, the mtsf agreement will see you alright. the trick is to find an agreement that suits your needs. theres enough of them out there, and when you quote an agreement to a manager with a bit of confidence they usually buckle.

i have found an agreement that states that a vacancy should be filled by means that will avoid the least moves. maybe, just maybe
as fishtank said displaced people always gets first pick at his location and have always done at mine also, quote mtsf 2,[employees will be matched against vacs on a basis of suitabilityof the job] bullshit baffles brains.

Page 55 of the MTSF 2010 agreement linked at http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 36&t=33667
Process For Operational Grades

As soon as employees are identified as being surplus the appropriate manager will verify if there are vacancies available or temporary employees that can be released. Surplus Employees will then be offered vacancies in common seniority order. Business Units will be required to check there are no Surplus Employees before considering any other method of resourcing. Managers cannot refuse to accept a unit's Surplus Employee (including those on maternity leave or long-term sick leave) who has been matched against a vacancy. Surplus Employees who are disabled or who are on maternity leave will be offered suitable alternative employment in accordance with legislative requirements.
In addition to that, there seem to be some potential issues around pay protection and also around specialist duties
