Even simple mere postmen such as us know that! But dims? Wellmandelsons_toenail wrote:Tank wrote:We go live tommoz! See what happens. The park and loop walks aren't even together! Some are on the other side of the office!?! I suggested putting them together, but dims said they don't want to change to much at once!?no loading bay plan done yet either, as they were too busy! Early team in aswell tommoz, but gonna be chaos!

Once Indoor Methods have been adopted there is no reason why the duties have to be together.mandelsons_toenail wrote:

There's probably no reason why not but it doesn't really matter.

I thought the whole point of a delivery methods revision was to do away with dedicated packet duties.Tank wrote:I'm just doing packets thankfully!
So whose packets are you doing? And why aren't they doing them themselves?

In our DO we just have one packet duty that does all the HCT large packets and tracked. This duty also has a couple of odd streets and drops extra bags to the HCTs as required.

Most duties in my office can't be done wed - fri, so packets are left.. no idea who does them, but they are gone the next day.clashcityrocker wrote:I thought the whole point of a delivery methods revision was to do away with dedicated packet duties.Tank wrote:I'm just doing packets thankfully!

They want to bed the park and loop duties in slowly! So they won't be doing oversized packets, tracked and specials! We have staff coming from other offices to help that have done p &l!!clashcityrocker wrote:I thought the whole point of a delivery methods revision was to do away with dedicated packet duties.Tank wrote:I'm just doing packets thankfully!

'Bed In' is a new management phrase I notice. Heard it used a lot recently.

Re: park n loop
So the time for doing these packets should be available within the duty span but to avoid any problems at the start of the revision they have put extra resources in. It is no wonder your DOM thinks there will be no need for cutting off.Tank wrote:They want to bed the park and loop duties in slowly! So they won't be doing oversized packets, tracked and specials! As time goes by, and you lot get familiar with the duties, they will expect to be able to withdraw those extra resources.
So what will you be doing then? Have you actually signed for this duty?

Start off as you mean to go on, use the trolleys as specified, don't rush just to try and complete just to please the manager. No more job and finish, don't rush around the office like headless chickens. Don't carry more than one pod of mail , don't drag two or three packetbags to your fitting. If you rush around now, you will spend the rest of your working life rushing around, and it aint that easy. Also be prepared for bullying and loads of grief of the dims and doms. So best of luck, cos you are gonna need it

I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

Well day one, 50/60% back on time some late. Got told off the dims don't have to take 20 mins before we go out, if the bags are light dont need to use the trolleys just on the shoulder! Ppl still in early, saw one p/t postie running on his round! Most didn't take oversize packets, tracked and specials! Think tommoz will go ok, but wends on should be fun!
