Cars on delivery

Post by chief »

What is everyones thinking on this?

I know the union are dead against this during the turbulence, but in some of my colleagues comments, it will just make their day that much longer, were they to leave their motor at the delivery office.

Doesn't bother me personally, as I am a van driver anyway.

Cars on delivery, in my opinion, in conjunction with coming in early is solely responsible for the ludicrous flexibility scenario the business want to implement.

I am told by a reliable source that on Friday in Warrington two sections of the office stopped using the cars and they had to bring in 3 extra vans alone and had loads of culls.

If everybody stopped using them and did the job properly we would have won this dispute months ago

If it makes their day longer not using their own vehicles then they are cutting their own throats. Either:

1. If they are finishing on time when using their own cars their rounds are too long and need to be reassessed. If they cut off the local managers will have to address this eventually.

2. If they are finishing too early, then under the new flexibility regime they will be expected to work to time and will either have more added to their walk, or they will cover other walks on completion of their own (lapsing)

3. If their day is longer and they don't mind they will make more money doing it on docket, instead of rushing around and getting paid less.

yes it will make your day longer working to your time and cutting off thats the whole point you can cause maximum disruption just by Doing the job properly, dont start early have your full meal relief before you go out. Have your pouches dropped to you if you do not have safe drop points I.E. dont leave them behind a bush etc etc, walk up and down pathways close gates. I dont think i have to say anymore, but take it from me those that have been doing it Watford southend stretham abbeywood have caused chaos and the screws dont no how to deal with it. :Applause :Applause

[quote="chief"]What is everyones thinking on this How about this for an idea?I`m thinking of sending it to big Al &Crozza. All the dickheads who come in early and use their cars can go on driving duties and all the surplus drivers can go on walks. It`s a WIN WIN! The firm save a packet on fuel, insurance, tax, repairs, maintence, allowances, and the drivers get fitter and live longer to receive their pensions.Hang on.The last bit might not fit in with their plans. Still it`s an idea.LOL THE MEEK AIN`T GONNA INHERIT s**t![The Rev D.Wayne Love]

So instead of rallying against Royal Mail for a couple of weeks of working to time (which they are paid to lets remember) theyd rather continue to use their cars and allow royal mail to continue to believe that they can cut corners and treat us like cr@p ?

No one has said the doing your job properly scheme has to go on forever. If Royal Mails proposals go through these people wont be finishing early anyway. By continuing to use their cars they are not helping the unions case in that we work hard enough already, RM can point to the fact that these guys are finishing early (even though Im sure theyre working their bo**ocks off and using their own cars).
Its all about sacrificing a few weeks, a few hours now to protect our jobs for years to come. I hope maybe you can explain this to them and hopefully they will understand what is going on.

'Doing the job properly' SHOULD go on always. It is the only way of uncovering all those 'lost hours' that RM now want to cram more work into. In the long run 'doing the job properly' is the best hope of saving jobs, and indeed putting hours BACK IN to the DO. As many people have said before it also costs NOTHING to do this, and you cannot get in bother.

A spin-off will be that we spend a little more time with our workmates as the ridiculous spectacle that we see everyday off people charging out of the door will disappear - lets relax and enjoy the job a bit more!. Remember a united workforce is a powerful workforce and RM would not be keen on this.
