We tried a number this morning which was unobtainable and then the 0207 number we were told to no longer use. When we got through to the 0207 we were told the unobtainable is inoperable until the person you are calling gets in the office and turns it on - why it cant be operable and someone else answers who knowsennabee wrote:Im getting an unobtainable signal on the number Ive been riniging most recently.the number is 01604 258929

The Text Scramble will be done on a first come first served basis. What you appear to have is people getting booked regularly - usually prior to the Text Scrramble (if they do the Text Scramble). As said above we have people who seem to get more than what would be considered a "fair share".dormouse wrote:
Yes. Sometimes we have these Text Scrambles but mainly Angard is texting us if we are booked few hours before shift. But there is some people who have at least 4 to 3 shifts a week regulary booked in this way. We know well they are not booked on first come first booked basis. It is not fair. The system is realy poor. Maybe we have to ring them for more work. No idea...Verging wrote:Angard "claim to share" the work. My personal experience is some people will get more shifts than others and it seems to be the same people most of the time. It does not seem to have any reflection on the abiity or effort put in by the people in terms of work - Angard do not know who works well or not so well. Angard are only interested in getting numbers into the RM places that need people and do not appear to care who gets in. We often play the Text Scramble. This is where Angard text all or most casuals at the mail centre and tell us there are shifts available for today or this week or next week. The casuals then have a scramble to call Angard back to book the shifts - seems like they get booked on first come first booked basis. So if your lucky you get in on all shifts available (or those you are able to do) or at least some - if your unlucky you dont get in at all and make a telephone call for nothing.dormouse wrote:But I cannot understand why several colleagues of mine are given mostly 4 shifts per week but others just 3 or even mostly 2Verging wrote:Your contract with Angard is a zero hours contract and as such you have no hours guaranteed.
Sometimes you will get a few hours per week; sometimes you will get around 20 hours a week; sometimes you might get more; sometimes you may get nothing for the week or a few weeks. It really is very hit and miss for most people.. I have no clue.They all are hard workers.Maybe it is just a problem of sistem by Angard. What would be the reason of this mysterious lack of the equality?

According to RMG code of standards;
Managers duty of care example;
A manager always offers overtime to one of his employees first.This is showing favouritism and does not not live up to the high standards of behaviour that we expect.
Similarly i would expect Angard to abide by this standard and why a manager told me a preference list is not allowed to operate when shifts are booked via agency.

Re: so, did they call u back?
I have not received a text in two weeks. So I phoned them up instead on the number one of the text messages included, and got a few shifts that way. What I have been noticing though is the same thing some of the others say, some are offered shifts regularly, there must be some favouritism going on there, as it's the same names who are offered shifts on a day to day basis. "Hi, what shifts do you have?" "Oh, I have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday" Err, well I only have a Saturday, this is what it's like. Everytime I phone "Sorry there is no work available, we'll contact you if any shifts come in" As far as I'm aware no one are receiving texts at the place I'm at.

Where are these lists and how do you get on them?
I haven't had any contact since signing the Angard contract and mailing it off.

Call them. But things are getting worse. This week lots of us (I do not know about favourites) are given only 1 day work due to canceling shifts by Royal Mail.sinfony wrote:Where are these lists and how do you get on them?

Re: so, did they call u back?
Usually it was a case of managers having their favourites; these were the ones who usually got the work. Some of them worked genuinely hard so got the extra hours/days, or had been there longer than others, which I think is fair enough. I can only assume others had incriminating pictures of the managers screwing a hooker up Old Kent Road or something equally shady.Verging wrote: Angard "claim to share" the work. I was lucky in that I never played the text scramble. The manager had a list of names of people he used consistently; when hours got lean we were put on a rota.
Playing that with Angard must be a bit like putting your bollocks in a lions mouth and smashing its todger with a baseball bat. I'm amazed that actually works. I wouldn't be surprised if people were getting a phone call from Angard, turning up at a site, then having them give you the blank and vacants before sending you back on your merry way home again.
