Royal Mail Simulator - Training

At that meeting Royal Mail accepted the CWU position and agreed that the necessary changes would be made to the Simulator Training to bring it in line with national agreements.

Did they explain where the banking hours s**t actually came from or are we to believe that it was just something the Simulator Team made up on the spur of the moment to fill a 10 minute hole in the presentation?

It must have come from somewhere and that somewhere must have been pretty senior so for once Bob or Bobby ...can we have the full story please?

I always think the 'banking hours ' rubbish is easily defeated; in that not only is their no agreement / policy on this. If you finish early on delivery then just present yourself to the Dom / Lino and ask if there is anything else that you can do. If the answer is no then there can be no arguement for the mythical banking of hours

Has anybody actually been on this course and was it in any way useful/interesting, or was it a 2 day bore just looking for innovative ways to shaft us?

My DOM has asked me to go as I am the nearest we have in our office to a rep, and I would go, but not if it's to find ways to cut our own throats.

Beware what they are simulating st.............at the end of the day simulation is not like the real thing

Lots of pretending to resource duties and offices.
Lots of magnets stuck to boards and made up posties like Fran Faast,Sid Sikket and Stan Dard.
Playground stuff,managers love it.
No idea why the union wanted anything to do with it.

I'm surprised you need to voice that opinion ft. It makes them feel "involved" and included in decision making - whereas I think it makes them look like they're riding the coat tails in the hope of looking important.

I was on it last week at Edinburgh ... it was a long two days ... it was actually quite helpful ... Royal Mail now realise that the current way of doing revisions are not working and are trying to learn from disasters like Dundee east and Dunfermline .... I actually got the feeling that they want them to work and the attitude of our lino has changed as well to a degree

I agree with fish, some good things put forward for offices starting a new revision. Some very concerning things on constant improvements of standards, the pay& mod being used more often and people being moved around the office constantly depending on abilities. As mentioned in another post how will this fair with seniority? Joe sloe! Lol

I have just completed day 1, what a load of bollocks. They've even got PCW attending, I spent most of the time watching them do the tasks. The whole thing was a sham, they were still spouting the 100bsi bollocks and banging on about performance managing, anything I had to say was ignored because it didn't fit in with their rose tinted way of looking at things.

Before the training even started, they have you filling in a questionnaire to find out what sort of person you are. You then get a name badge with wheel underneath showing your perceived strengths taken from the questionnaire. Then you get to play with magnets.

You mean it gets worse. These people really don't have a clue, I wanted to walk out half way through it today. I just don't see the point, DOMs will never do half the s**t they bang on about. Anyone know why PCW are doing the training?
