The days of being a non-driving postman are definitely numbered,probably make us a fatter bunch.

wrong, its the rushing about under pressure that is getting worse. years ago it was a doddle,back home at 10am,2-3 bags of mail maybe. but now the back of the vans are rammed and we have to rush round to get it done. overweight people will continue to struggle with this as its only going to get worse as time goes by with cuts and saving driven management.

No you don't have to rush round to get it done. You may have to rush round to avoid getting bullied by a manager, but as long as you work to a reasonable level there is not much they can do if you can let it wash over you.

In this scenario although being overweight may increase your risk, I think those that will suffer the most medical problems won't be the "fat" ones, but those that can't handle stress effectively, and that will continue and increase until there is a change of attitude and ethos at the top.
